Corsdyl Mint Mouthwash is to treat gum problems. You have to rinse your mouth with it for 1 minute, using a 10ml capful twice a day.
I first bought this a couple of months ago as I had sore gums that were bleeding a lot and being a big scaredy cat did not want to go to the dentist unless I absolutely had to!
I didn't read the instructions until the first time I went to use it which was when I had just brushed my teeth. However, I soon discovered that unlike other mouthwashes you can't do that, as toothpaste can stop it working. The recommendation is to rinse your mouth thoroughly with water and then wait 5 minutes after brushing your teeth before using it. Sounds simple, but in reality I'm always about to rush off to work or on my way to bed when brushing my teeth so didn't really want to wait around even for 5 minutes. The other option is to use it at a different time of day when you haven't just brushed your teeth, which again is difficult for me to do as I am at work most of the day and the only time I remember to do it is when I am brushing my teeth!
So...........eventually I found a time when I could use it and actually remembered to try it out.
It is a very, very strong taste which I was ok with as I like strong mouthwash, but this did make even my eyes water a little, certainly not for those who prefer mild flavours, I would class this as industrial strength!!
I did notice that when I used it in the morning I had a very bitter taste in my mouth all day - not what I would describe as mint, and everything I ate and drank tasted strange and quite unpleasant, especially tea.
However, having said that - the problems with my gums improved after only a day or two and may have gone away altogether if I had carried on using it regularly. Unfortunately I find the nasty taste it leaves behind lasts so long that I would only persevere with this if I was suffering badly.
Lost a star simply because it made my cuppa taste horrible all day!
Summary: Like all medicines, the nastier it tastes, the better it works!
