Yikes - my husband has just been presented with a £4000 bill from his dentist it's made me even more determined to look after my teeth, gums & oral hygiene!
I was introduced to the flossing procedure by our dental hygienist several years ago & was given lessons on how to use dental floss around the interdental area (between the teeth) to remove any food debris or plaque. Both she & my dentist explained that the build-up of plaque can cause gum disease - I don't think I suffered any more plaque than the average person but our dental surgery took part in a government scheme which focussed on prevention rather than pain.
Since then flossing has become part of my (exciting) nightly ritual. To be honest I prefer the Endekay little brushes but I find I can't angle them right to get to my teeth at the very back so I use the floss as well.
I paid £1.94 for a little compact case which contains a reel of about 25m which I reckon is a small price to pay. It's advised that you use cut off about 30cm (blade included) & twist around the fingers etc ( full directions given) & I find it's an excellent floss.
I find I don't need to cut off as much as they say so a purchase lasts me for months. It's easy to cut, not coarse & seems to do the job fairly thoroughly as my mouth always feel better & I can tell the difference as there are no bits between my teeth & my teeth & gums feel smoother.
There's a nice fresh minty taste after using it but it's not too strong & soon disappears. I've noticed an aftertaste when using some cheaper flosses but I've not had this problem after using Endekay.
Although I use a sonic toothbrush & use a mouthwash twice a day I find that good old floss still has a place & I'd recommend this because of it's ease of use & smoothness.
Endekay Mint Dental Floss is easy to use;
it helps reach spaces between your teeth that your tooth brush cannot reach. These areas are now targets for the build up of plaque, when left untreated can lead to gum disease.
Endekay Dental Floss comes in a compact case and is:
Easy to use
Proven to remove plaque and improve gum health
Directions for use,
the packet says to;
Wrap 30cm of Endekay Dental Floss around the middle fingers. Leave a short distance between the two fingers
Gently guide the floss back and forth between the teeth. Be careful not to damage the gum.
Repeat the process on each tooth remembering to use a fresh length of floss every time.
I say, wrap a good length of the floss around your fingers and pull it to-and-fro so that it is picking up any left over partials In your teeth, remembering to floss gently and not saw through your gums. You also MUST NOT use the same length of floss over and over again, as it will not work as well.
The floss is really useful for getting things from out between your teeth, it also tastes of mint, however it is not a substitute for brushing your teeth and dose not freshen your breath. Also the floss may not be able to fit in to all the gaps between your teeth so do not force the floss in place's it will not go willingly as you may find it will go straight the gap of your teeth and cut your gum.
