“ Brand: GlaxoSmithKline / Type: Mouthwash / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
I like to use mouthwash whenever I brush my teeth, and I have tried lots of different ones. In the past I have tended to favour shops own basic ones as they tend to be less strongly flavoured, whilst the leading brands are often to strong for me to swill round for more than a couple of seconds. Also they are much cheaper!
I decided to give Sensodyne Pronamel mourthwash a go, as I have quite sensitive teeth, and I sometimes felt that the cheap ones I typically bought were just mint flavoured water. I really like this mouthwash: it has a nice mild flavour, so I can swill it round for some time - which I think is more effective. Also it is designed for sensitive teeth, so I feel confident that it is 'good for my teeth and gums'.
So I would recommend this if, like me: you are looking for something more effective that the budget mouthwashes available, but find some of the other leading brands too strong, and you have sensitive teeth.
The only problem I have with this mouthwash is the price. I think it is very expensive, and I don't find that the bottle lasts long. Having said that, I keep buying it so I must really like it (though I do try to get it cheaper - e.g. I sometimes get a Tesco voucher for £1.50 off, or it is sometimes on offer in Tesco, Morrisons, and Wilkinsons).
I have given this 4 stars instead of 5 for 2 reasons - firstly the price (for the length of time a bottle lasts), and secondly it would be nice if it had some 'whitening' element to it (but I guess that doesn't go too well with it being for sensitive teeth).
I use sensodyne toothpaste due to the fact that my gums have receded slightly revealing the dentine beneath my tooth enamel which can make eating and drinking hot or cold foods rather uncomfortable. Sometimes they can be so sensitive that breathing in cool air or evenbrushing can hurt so in an attempt to avoid this discomfort I decided to also add a sensodyne mouthwash to my daily rountine.
I purchased this new product which comes in a 250ml recyclable bottle from in boots for £4.18 so it's not cheap but if it works I feel it's worth it. The mouthwash is pale blue and the plastic bottle has a screwtop lid.
The idea behind this pronamel is that it helps to reharden the tooth enamel with its 'acid protection formula' to prevent further erosion whilst also of course providing protection against tooth decay. T4his mouthwash has a fresh minty taste and is alcohol free so you don't get that stinging sensation which can occur with some mouthwashes that I have found then makes it impossible to keep the mouthwash in the mouth for the allotted time!
Basically our diets are to blame for the growing problem of acid erosion - many foods and drinks including citrus fruits, and (sob) wine, erode the minerals of the tooth and over time wear away this protective layer by causing it to soften. This can then make even your regular brushing a party to further erosion as the enamel is easier to brush away. A tip: I always thought it was a good idea to get the kids to brush their teeth after having something paticularly sweet but it is actually better to wait, drink some water or due some gum as the layer or sticky stuff will have already started to soften the enamel and brushing immediately afterwards can lead to brushing away the enamel rather than avoiding this problem.
Directions are to use this twice a day rinsing with approximately 10ml of product for 1 minute. This is not for use by children under 7 and even those aged between 7 and 12 you are advised to consult your dentist before allowing them to use it.
I find this mouthwash very pleasant as it is very fresh tasting and minty without as previously mentioned stinging the inside of my mouth so I have no problem with using it for the whole minute. There is a nice a sensation of having a clean mouth after use and my breath was freshened although it was not admittedly as long lasting as some of the stronger mouthwashes I have used in the past but that is not the main reason I am using it.
Since using this together with sensodyne toothpaste I have noticed less sensitivity overall and hopefuly using the duel attack will slow down the wearing away process that has already started.
If you have sensitive teeth I would definitely recommend this mouthwash and even if you don't the fact that you can protect your tooth enamel with this mouthwash is a plus to avoid the problem in future.
Thanks for reading. x

When I brush my teeth, I like to always use a mouth wash, as I find I do not feel that I have completed my several times a day cleaning routine if I have not used one, and I have tried lots of them over the years and I have bought shops own brands too and found them absolutely fine for my mouth and teeth,
This one is a very well known brand, Sensodyne is very reliable and is kind to the teeth and I bought this one about a month ago when I saw it on offer at my local store and I paid around £2 for it at the time and since it is usually a much higher price, I got a bargain.
The amount in the plastic bottle is 250ml and I think that is a good amount for the price and this tastes quite minty and only a little is needed and I usually fill the cap and just gargle in my mouth after brushing my teeth and it does not burn and that is what I like about this one, as some tend to burn as soon as placed into the mouth but this one is excellent.
The quality of it is super, it is very good value for money and it helps protect against tooth decay, and I eat a lot of sweets and snacks and so I have to brush my teeth more than twice a day to keep them cleaner and remove food deposits and sometimes even after a good brush of the teeth, when I have used a mouth wash, and removed it, I have often seen extra food in the sink from my mouth and so this mouth wash does go in between the teeth to remove those extra food parts that are left behind from the regular brushing.
This also helps against erosion of the teeth as acid drinks etc can damage the teeth and this help to protect them a little bit more and it is mild on the teeth and once used my teeth feel nice and clean and my mouth feels lovely and fresh and my teeth feel nice and smooth and I do find whenever I use a mouth wash at night time, it is keeping my teeth stronger and this one has been very kind to my teeth and I absolutely love the mint taste as it feels very refreshing on the teeth and my mouth.
I have been very pleased with the results this mouth wash has given my teeth and although I do think the cheaper brands work too, I like to buy a quality one when possible and especially on offer as it saves me lots of money and I highly do recommend this one for anyone to try, even at the usual price as it is a very good quality product and a good one to try when on special offer.
I rate it 5 stars.
I am keen to look after my teeth and I brush twice a day and visit my dentist regularly but I am now at an age where my teeth are becoming sensitive to hot and cold. I spoke to my dentist about this at my last check up and he explained that as we get older the enamel becomes thinner and worn in parts which can cause sensitive spots that are irritated by extremes of heat or cold. My dentist recommended that I use an enamel protecting toothpaste and he also recommended that I avoid mouthwash that contains alcohol as this can irritate the teeth and can cause long term damage.
I have always liked to use mouthwash as part of my dental regime, I just feel that it adds to the overall cleaning effect and also it helps to extend breath freshness. Even though my dentist recommended that I avoid mouthwashes with alcohol he did advise me that there were new products on the market that help with sensitive teeth and protect against acid erosion. I have been using Sensodyne pronamel toothpastes for quite a while and I was pleased to discover they also make a pronamel mouthwash. I have now been using the mouthwash for a few months and will continue to use it, unless my dentist tells me otherwise.
Sensodyne Pronamel daily mouthwash is made by Glaxo Smith Kline, it comes in a 250ml plastic bottle with a greeney blue lid, and the liquid is also a greeney blue. The mouthwash is supposed to help protect against acid erosion from wine acids, fruit acids and acidic drinks. It helps protect against tooth decay, reharden tooth enamel, has a fresh mint taste and is alcohol free. The label on the back of the bottle lists all the ingredients, and there are quite a number. The directions advise to use twice daily rinsing with approximately 10ml of the liquid for about 1 minute before spitting out, the liquid should not be swallowed. The product should not be used by children under 7.
I am not a scientist nor do I have any medical or dental knowledge so I cannot explain or vouch for the ingredients however I am very pleased with the effect of the mouthwash and would recommend it. The mouthwash has an almost syrup like consistency, it tastes of mint, not too strong but very pleasant. The mouthwash leaves a very pleasant taste in the mouth and my mouth never feels dry after rinsing, there is no bitter aftertaste nor is the mouthwash overpowering. Since starting to use the mouthwash I have not had any episodes of teeth sensitivity, I am not sure how the enamel on my teeth is being protected but I will be asking my dentist if there is any further deterioration in the strength of the enamel on my teeth. Sensodyne pronamel mouthwash should be used as part of a daily dental regime and it is essential to take good care of the teeth to avoid permanent damage.
I do find that the mouthwash is a little more expensive that some other mouthwashes but I do feel it is worth the money. Sensodyne pronamel mouthwash can be found in chemists, supermarkets and other shops that sell dental products.
