Bubblegum flavour pink mouthwash for children at reasonable price

This is available in our local poundshop. It's in a nice bubblegum flavour which is quite mild. It was bought in mind for my seven year old sister. The normal mouthwashes I feel can be too harshly minty for a child this age and this was mild and a fun flavour for them (I admit I have tried a bit myself).

It is a smaller bottle than most mouthwashes but still when you get it for one pound it is value for money.

The only problem we seem to have found is that maybe my sister likes it a bit too much as it seemed to go down very quickly as she took up mouth washing every time she went to the toilet.

It is targeted towards the traditional girls market being in pink and such but I am sure with the flavour, many boys won't have an issue with it. My little sister is quite tomboyish and not into the traditional girl things but I think due to the sweet flavour she makes an exception for this.

A good mouth wash for children aged 6 and up

A few weeks ago now I decided to allow my daughter to have her first sleepover as she had just had her room decorated I thought it would be the perfect time to let her have a friend stay over. Once bedtime came, the girls toddled off to the bathroom to brush their teeth and her friend had brought along a hello kitty mouthwash. My daughter has never used a mouth wash before so she was excited and wanted to know if she could have a try. I agreed and she thought she was so grown up. The following day we were out shopping and we visited the pound shop and noticed they had the mouth wash. I decided to get some for my daughter and she was over the moon.

The mouth wash comes in a plastic bottle with a hello kitty sticker on the front and back, a white screw top child safe cap on the top which has to be squeezed to open and proves rather difficult for my daughter. I don't mind the child proof top as my daughter is only 6 so I like to make sure she isn't using too much and swallowing it anyways. The sticker advises that the product was made in the USA. The mouth wash itself is bright pink in colour and the whole design including the hello kitty logo is very tempting for children.

This mouth wash does contain fluoride but fortunately for peace of mind it doesn't contain any sugar or alcohol which is expected really when it is designed for a child. The mouth wash also advises that this product is to be used for children aged 6 and above and yes adults can use it too however I will be sticking to my minted varieties as this does taste very fruity and exactly like bubble gum hence it is a bit too sweet for me.

The cap of the bottle can be used to measure out the amount of mouth wash needed and I keep stressing the fact not too use too much and spit it out in case she decides to have a little drink since it does taste rather yummy.

I would definitely recommend this mouth wash for little girls and at the price of a pound you can't go wrong.

      Top product!

Me and my daughter are absolutly obsessed with anything pink and girly - its just as well there is just me and her in our house as both our bedrooms, her playroom and bathroom are pink themed, it would drive a boy absolutely domented living in our house!

One of our big obsessions is Hello Kitty - you can see I am a fan by my profile picture! Even my work computer background is decorated with Hello Kitty on the desktop!

My daughter is always getting Hello Kitty things like a Hello Kitty cover for her iPod Touch, cuddly toys, make up sets ect... We are always on the hunt for Hello Kitty products... and being a single parent the price always has to be reasonable to me!

One day whilst shopping in our local Home Bargains - a bargain chain shop - we came across a Hello Kitty Mouthwash in bubblegum flavour - after being met with "Mum! Please can I have it!?" I caved in - couldn't argue at the price as it was very cheap!

      About the makers

SmileGuard / DrFresh is a mouthcare company specialising in toothbrushs, toothpaste and fun mouthwash's for kids. The front label of the Hello Kitty mouthwash also declares the product was made in USA.

The back label states you can find more information at www.drfresh.com - although this is incorrect and they should really update this. When I attempted to access the website was blocked - but I did find www.drfreshdental.com. The correct website states the companys headquarters are based in California and distribute to 35 countries worldwide. They also state they offer a wide range of products - over 250 - at affordable prices.

      About the product

After my daughter experiancing some dental problems when she was younger due to using themed childrens toothpaste, I was advised by my dentist to stick to branded mouth care products that were known to contain flouride. This was one of the first things I looked for in this mouthwash as I didn't want a repeat of her going into hospital to have some teeth removed - the first time was traumatic enough! The front label does confirm the mouthwash does contain flouride. Further information on the back states that it contains Sodium Flouride 0.05% (225ppm F). Another huge bonus for me in regards to my daughters health when using this the front label also states there is no alcohol or sugar in this mouthwash!

As you can see from my title I would love an adult version of this mouthwash - those who also love this will be pleased to know the back label states the product is suitable for adults as well as children over the age of 6. Although it is a bit sweet I wouldn't personally use this myself, but teenagers who also love Hello Kitty would appreciate this!

      About the packaging

The mouthwash comes in a small strange wavy shaped bottle which is transparent meaning you can see the liquid inside. There is a white cap to close the bottle and measure out the mouthwash - which to my happiness is child-locked so you have to squeeze and twist - thank god, otherwise my daughter would be in at this all the time!

When you first purchase the bottle the cap is sealed with a plastic layer which you need to pick up - so you know the product hasn't been tampered with!

The labels on the bottle are, of course, pink! The front labels colours are light and dark pinks, with poker dots in the background. Over the top you have an image of Hello Kitty in the normal white and pink colours. The label states the brand name - SmileGuard - and also confirms this is a bubblegum flavour mouthwash and contains 237ml of product.

The back label tells you the product is suitable for children from the age of 6 onwards and has a total standard shelf life of up to 12 months.

You then have the usual directions on how to use the mouthwash - pretty much don't swallow which is quite hard as it is very yummy! You then also have the ingrediants for the product.

Another thing I noticed on the back label is the fact that the mouthwash shows the Hello Kitty makers, Sanrio, have stamped this mouthwash with their approval!

      About the liquid

The liquid is bright bubblegum pink in colour and is transparent. When you shake the bottle the liquid does bubble up quite a lot and the pink colour fades out slightly. The liquid itself is like water - not thick at all.

      Scent & Taste

The bottle tells you the flavour is bubblegum - and when you open the lid and have a sniff, I can confirm it smells exactly like bubblegum. To be exact, like the 1p pieces of bubblegums you get when you are a kid in your 1p sweet mixes - makes your mouth water and gives you nice childhood memories!

When you test the mouthwash it certainly lives up to its expectations. Tastes exactly as it smells and it does actually make your mouth feel a lot cleaner afterwards. My daughter also loves swishing this round for a minute twice a day which is something she will not do with my own mouthwash!

      My Opinion

If your little one is obsessed with girly things like mine and you do want to help them look after their peggies then this mouthwash is the way to go.

Tastes delicious (just make sure they don't want to eat it!), cheap cheap price, contains a good source of flouride as reccomended by dentists and has absolutly no sugar or alcohol in the contents. Win Win situation for everyone!

      Price & Availability

As well as the bubblegum flavour I have also seen a Strawberry flavour doing the rounds when researching the product online although I have never seen this in person - I would definetly want to try it though! SmileGuard also offer a range for boys which would be great if you find them!

I purchased this mouthwash for just 89p in Home Bargains last month - I haven't seen in any other shops and doubt it can really beat that price considering Home Bargains is cheap as chips anyway!
