Listerine Original


Mouthwash is something I started to use a few years ago as I really liked the sound of the benefits and thought it was a good addition to brushing my teeth. I'm not one that actually brushes the teeth for two minutes every morning and evening. So Listerine seemed like a good addition.


Each Listerine mouthwash has four main features:
- To reduce plaque
- Provides long-lasting fresh breath
- Suitable for everyday use
- Maintains the good condition of the gums


Although these days you have many different kind of mouthwashes sold by many different brands, it all really started with Listerine. Listerine Original came available years ago and started the trend of people using mouthwash.


This Listerine mouthwash is one without any fuss. It's an unflavoured mouthwash but it does have a strong smell of alcohol. That's right away the downside with this mouthwash as people may think they have been drinking in the early morning. Another downside to the mouthwash containing alcohol is that it really dries out your mouth which can cause again bad breath. There is a simple solution to this and that it's to simply drink water after using the mouthwash.


The benefits of this mouthwash are that it kills bacteria between the teeth and that it reduces plaque by up to 56%. You have to use it twice a day after brushing your teeth. You have to rinse your mouth for 30 seconds with 20 ml of mouthwash. You can easily use the cap of the bottle to measure the right amount.


I think Listerine is a great product but these days there are better versions of mouthwash available. A big downside for me is the strong alcohol flavour to it. For that reason only three stars for this mouthwash.
