I'm a bit of an obsessive when it comes to dental hygiene and I tend to stock up on products when I see them on special offer so I have lots of floss, tape, spare heads for my electric toothbrush and a couple of other brushes as well knocking about my bathroom as well as a couple of bottles of mouthwash on the go at any time and included in that is some Listerine Total Care Sensitive and it was on a three for two offer recently in Boots.
My teeth have been a little sensitive recently and I'm waiting on the results of some x-rays that were took at the dentist last week so the sensitive option in the Listerene range seemed a good choice and since i started using it I have noticed a lessening of the irritation when I drink something cold.
The mouthwash is a fairly standard mint flavour to it and is a pale blue colour and it comes in a 250g clear plastic bottle. I do find the listerene range to be very effective and that is teh case with this one, the mint flavour is not too strong and the recommended usage is for 30 seconds of swilling around your mouth which is not a problem.
I find that after use my teeth feel nice and clean and my mouth is refreshed, it helps prevent bad breath and the build up of plaque. I would certainly recommend this product if you have sensitive teeth or gums as it appears to be working. It normally retails around the £2.50 mark.
I never used to use mouthwash, but when I was last in Boots I saw they had a special offer on Listerine mouthwash. I actually can't remember what the offer was (it was a while ago so it probably won't be on anymore anyway!), but it reduced the normal price of £2.49 for 250ml to a much more reasonable level. I bought two mouthwashes - the ordinary and sensitive versions of Total Care - and decided to try the Sensitive version first.
The mouthwash comes in a clear plastic bottle with a black lid. The liquid inside is pale blue, a kind of acqua blue, and comes in 'Clean Mint' flavour. The mouthwash claims to offer "all round protection from sensitivity" and to reduce plaque, kill bacteria, freshen breath and strengthen tooth enamel.
When rinsing my mouth with this mouthwash, I at first kept swilling it around my mouth trying to make sure it got everywhere, but this meant that I could never keep it in for the requisite 30 seconds as the mint was just too strong! Therefore I started keeping my mouth still for longer! Once I've used this mouthwash my mouth feels really clean and fresh and the feeling lasts for a good few hours. I don't think I could stop using mouthwash now as my mouth and teeth wouldn't feel clean enough!
I can't say I've noticed much difference in the appearance of my teeth, though they were hardly brown beforehand, and I've only been using this mouthwash a month so perhaps it's too soon. My teeth weren't particularly sensitive before, but I've noticed that after using this mouthwash they aren't sensitive at all.
One 250ml bottle of mouthwash has lasted around a month, using it twice daily.
I want to try a few more mouthwashes before I pick one to use regularly, but this is one I'd definitely consider coming back to. I do recommend it.
Ok I suffer from really sensitive teeth it is a real nightmare. I've tried many different mouth washes but they do not work. Normal mouth washes really hurt my mouth so when a friend of mine recommended this I was a little unsure but I had nothing to lose!
I'm so glad I used it I now do not use anything else, I use it twice a day just like it says to and it really does work, I still have sensitive teeth but nowhere near as bad!
This mouth wash is a part of Listerine's long history of mouth washes all doing different things and act in a different way with different results. This one for sensitive teeth helps clear your mouth protect your gums and help reduce bacteria by 99.9% which is great, as well as doing all this it also helps protect your teeth from sensitivity and helps reduce the causes of sensitivity so it is clear to see it is highly effective.
The blue liquid smells very strong and has a huge impact on your mouth; the taste is not particularly nice but the after effect certainly lasts. Your mouth feels all tingly and very clean.
This bottle is very distinctive and easy to tell a part from other washes the bottle is clear with a silver shiny label. It costs around £4.50 for a 500ml bottle however I'm sure you can buy 250ml bottles if you shop around and you can also buy travel sized bottles too. Although the price fairly high it is defiantly worth it for the results! You won't be left disappointed, I wasn't!!!
This is another good Listerine mouthwash product which I stumbled upon when I was recently in the Scottish lowlands - the Morrisons store in Hawick was selling this for 1 pound 53 p - very cheap. I forgot to take my mouthwash with me so I snapped up a bottle of this quick smart!
What is it?: The main claim of this Listerine mouthwash is that if this product is "used twice daily, Listerine total care sensitive is proven to clean your whole mouth and target the multiple causes of sensitivity". I don't usually have particularly sensitive teeth, so it is not possible to verify this claim, but the mouthwash itself is quite potent and really feels like it attacking the bugs in your mouth!
Appearance and Packaging: The mouthwash is light blue in appearance and is contained within a 500 ml transparent recyclable plastic bottle. The label is clear and unambiguous, and is easy to distinguish this mouthwash from the many other Listerine mouthwashes available.
Smell and Taste: The flavour is a clean mint but this is masked by a an almost disinfectant type smell - don't let this put you off though. The taste is quite palatable with a strong mint flavour, and the mouthwash really tingles the tongue and the senses. Your breath will feel nice and fresh afterwards for a good few hours.
Value for money: I don't usually shop in Morrisons, but 1 pound 53 p is exceptional value for Listerine.
Overall: A strong tasting, good value for money product that really freshens your breath. Another good Listerine mouthwash.
As we finally ran out of the extremely strong Listerine Arctic Ice mouthwash I decided to buy something lighter, less hot. I went to Sainsbury's and found Listerine Total Care Sensitive.
Product, price, wrapper
This mouthwash comes in completely transparent plastic bottle. It contains 500 ml light blue liquid. The label on it is silver on the top then white going into purple. In the silver pert is written with big black letters Listerine, below with small letters Antibacterial Mouthwash. In the white part of the label is written with silver letters Total Care then below it with purple Sensitive.
I bought it in Sainsbury's for 4.10 pounds. I am sure you can find it in bigger supermarkets, drug stores and on Internet too. It is manufactured in the EU by Johnson & Johnson Limited (Maidenhead, SL6 3UG, UK)
It is said on the label that it builds protection against that sharp, sudden sensitive feeling, strengthens tooth enamel even in hard to reach areas, keeps gums healthier to help prevent gum recession, so the sensitive area below the gum line is better protected, reduces plaque, kills bacteria between the teeth and freshens breath.
I filled the cup of the bottle and poured into my mouth, rinsed it for 30 seconds as recommended. After the 3rd second I felt how strong this staff is. I thought it will be lighter than Arctic Ice because it is Clean Mint flavoured. Now I know that the flavouring does not really matter, some other ingredient is responsible for that hot feeling. I am glad that it has mint flavour and not eucalypt (I hate that).
After I rinse my mouth with this mouthwash I felt my mouth really clean and fresh. This freshness lasts long, so I'm satisfied with this mouthwash. How about protecting my sensitive teeth? Well I use Sensodyne Pronamel toothpaste and that protects my teeth. It is the most expensive toothpaste on the market I think, so when I ran out of it probably I will try a cheaper one because this mouthwash will protect my sensitive teeth. It is really bad that I couldn't eat anything sour, sweet, hot or cold without using some kind of protection for my teeth. It can be so painful for a few moments that I rather buy these products.
Aqua, Alcohol, Sorbitol, Potassium Nitrate, Poloxamer 407, Benzoic Acid, Sodium Saccharin, Eucalyptol, Aroma, Methyl Salicylate, Thymol, Sucralose, Menthol, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Flouride, CI 42053, (0.022% w/v 100 ppm F). [PR-006684].
This mouthwash should be kept below 30 degrees and is not suitable for children under the age of 12 years.
I will stick to this mouthwash because it has good taste (although it is strong) and gives protection for my sensitive teeth and provides long lasting fresh breath. I didn't ask the bacteria whether they survived or not, I don't really care until I feel my mouth clean and my teeth protected. I don't have a problem with my dentist, but the less I see her, the better for me.
