Although I don't smoke or tend to drink heavy liquids such as coffee which might stain my teeth a few weeks back I spotted an Oral B Pro Expert whitening toothpaste and having seen their toothbrushes and had positive experiences with them, I wondered if they would continue this quality in their toothpastes also. So I purchased myself a tube and it cost me around the £3 mark which was definitely a little expensive, particularly as I tend to buy products much cheaper. But its also the name you're purchasing so I swallowed (ha!) the price and put it in the trolley.
As I said I don't have particularly yellow or stained teeth so perhaps its a little more difficult for me to see any whitening effects the toothpaste might have. After trying it out for around a month I did notice a slight different and so in that sense the product was effective, but not enough to justify calling it "whitening" as many toothpastes I've used in the past have left my teeth gleaming which in itself can make them appear a little whiter.
This toothpaste promises to:
Prevent Gum Problems
Build increasing protection against painful sensitivity
Whiten teeth by removing surface stains
Prevent Enamel Erosion
As I'm not a dentist I'm unsure again if its removed any cavities or lessened the amount of plaque and gum problems I've had so obviously i'm unsure there. One thing I do enjoy about more expensive toothpastes is that my teeth feel a little thicker (if thats possible) in that if I'm eating a pack of fizzy sweets for example I don't get a sharp pain I sometimes do from where the enamel has weakened/eroded. So in that sense it is definitely effective.
It does leave my breath feeling fresh and when I apply the toothpaste it is pretty thick which means it reaches all of my teeth even the ones right at the back where my wisdom teeth are (which for me is sometimes a little difficult to reach, particularly because I use a manual brush and sometimes brushing there agitates it). I'm not a huge fan of the taste, but to be honest I rarely am as while I don't mind mint I'm not exactly crazy for it so its pretty much your bog standard toothpaste taste.
Overall this was a decent toothpaste but considering you pay the extra buck for its tooth whitening properties and I don't feel it was exceptional at this, its not one Id buy again. It does a perfect job as an ordinary toothpaste but so do plenty of other brands that are a lot cheaper and so in future I think I'll stick with them.
I went to my dentist a few months back for a normal routine check up, and on my way out I was handed a sample sized tube of this toothpaste! I love freebies so I was happy to take it home and try it. I don't really believe in whitening toothpaste because in my previous experiences they don't tend to work brilliantly. The only way to get "white" teeth is to go to your dentist.
When I tried this for the first time I was pretty happy, it tastes rather nice and fealt like normal toothpaste. I used it for the next few day and my sample was finished ( sad times!). On my next tesco shop I noticed it on the shelf and shoved It in my trolley because I was in need of some new toothpaste and I thought this would be worth a try because I hadn't given it a long enough go to see the effects it claims to be able to do. I have always used Colgate toothpaste because I genuinely believe it to be the best toothpaste out there.
After using oral b for a while I started to get sick of it. It doesn't taste as nice as my normal toothpaste and he texture of it isn't the nicest feeling in your mouth, it is kind of rough and I prefer a nice smooth toothpaste. Also after 3 weeks of brushing 2 times a day, my teeth were no whiter. I have nice teeth anyway, but always wish they were naturally a bit whiter. This toothpaste had no obvious affects if whitening. However it does leave your mouth feeling clean and I don't doubt it does clean and protect your teeth from cavities and issues. I think it's a good toothpaste but doesn't do exactly what you hope it to do.
You can pick up a tube of this from between 1.50-3.00 depending on where you shop. I got mine from my local savers store for £2 and thought tst wasn't a too much of a bad price for this product.
I think I will be sticking to my normal cognate total car or the blue gel one. They really do help your teeth and I feel they taste nicer and are smoother to brush with.
The actual tube your OralB toothpaste comes in is pretty plain and boring, but what do you expect from toothpaste? :) haha. I think that this toothpaste is worth a try, you may like it and it may whiten your teeth for you, everyone is different :)
Overall this is a decent toothpaste with not much wrong with it, just isn't my favourite and will be gong back to my original choice of toothpaste!
Thanks very much for reading my review on oral b whitening toothpaste! Hope it has helped you out :)
I have always used Colgate toothpaste on the advice of my dentist. I use an electric Oral B toothbrush and have always been very happy with the results. Whilst shopping in superdrug recently I spotted a new whitening toothpaste made by Oral B and decided to try it.
The Oral B pro expert whitening toothpaste, to give it its full name, comes in a blue and white 75ml tube. I paid £3.49 for a 75ml tube and this seems to be the same price in most supermarkets. The information on the box promises great results such as whiter teeth, fresher breath and fewer cavities. Oral B says that this toothpaste has a unique ingredient that actually helps prevent stains from forming as well as removing existing surface stains. It is also claimed that using this toothpaste on a regular basis will remove bacteria in the mouth, helping to prevent bad breath, help reduce sensitivilty, remove plaque and prevent cavities. I was mainly interested in having whiter teeth as most toothpaste will deliver on the other promises!
The toothpaste has a mild minty taste with a slightly gritty texture. I don't like strong minty toothpaste and this is mild enough for my children to use. After brushing my teeth my mouth feels fresh and clean. However I can't say it feels any different to when I clean using my usual toothpaste. However the main test for me is how well this toothpaste whitens my teeth!
I have now been using this toothpaste for several weeks and am very disappointed to report that I can't see any real difference in the whiteness of my teeth. Overall I do like this toothpaste for its mild taste and cleaning abilities. However it isn't any better than Colgate as far as I am concerned! In fact the only difference I can see is the price tag!
I bought this after receiving a free sample of one of the other Oral-B Pro Expert toothpastes a few months ago and really liking it. When I went out to buy some more I didn't realise they did a full range of these toothpastes, but there are several to choose from and I decided to go for the whitening one as my teeth are not looking as white as they once were. I bought it when it was on offer at £1 but the usual price is around £2.30 for the 75ml tube.
It comes in a plastic squeezy tube which annoyingly has a screw off lid. I really don't know why any company would make toothpaste tubes with screw off lids anymore because flip top ones are so much more convenient and save a lot of arguments about who left the lid off the toothpaste! The lid is as wide as the top of the tube though so you can stand it on it's end to save space.
The toothpaste is a lovely minty blue colour and has more of a gel consistency than a paste. It has a gritty texture to it like it's full of lots of little grains. The taste is very fresh and minty but it's not too strong nor too sweet which suits me well as there's nothing I hate more than a really sweet tasting toothpaste, I find it totally off-putting.
I find this a pleasant paste to brush with, it doesn't foam up too much so it's not as messy as some which have me dribbling foam everywhere. It does feel like it's giving a good clean whether I use it with a manual or electric toothbrush, and my teeth are left feeling very clean with a smooth, polished feeling. My mouth feels very fresh immediately after using it but unfortunately this feeling only lasts about a minute before I'm feeling like my breath maybe isn't as fresh as it could be.
I've been using this for a couple of months now and am just getting near to the bottom of the tube so it's lasted pretty well. I can't say I've noticed any difference in the whiteness of my teeth though which is a shame as I was hoping it might just make the slightest bit of difference.
