Advantages: Effective, antiseptic and affordable

Disadvantages: Prolonged use can stain teeth

I would not say Oraldene is suitable for regular use as our dentist has previously warned us that prolonged use can cause staining of the teeth. However it is a product that we always have in our cupboards just in case of an emergency and with so many people in the house, we get through at least one bottle a year and sometimes two.

It only costs around £1 or £2 more than a standard bottle of mouthwash to buy but this has added benefits over a standard mouthwash. This is not designed to prevent problems but to deal with them if they arise. So if for example you have a mouth ulcer, rinsing with this product three times a day will help to clear it up. It is also ideal for use following dental surgery as it will help to keep the area in top condition and aid the healing process as it has antiseptic properties.

Oraldene has quite a strong and not overly pleasant taste to it but I do not find it uncomfortable or particularly nasty. Given the benefits and antiseptic properties this product has I think it is actually a lot better tasting than you might expect it to be.

Do be warned that you should consult your dentist or the label before using this if you have never tried it before. There are a few circumstances under which you should not use this and you should be aware of the possible side effects too.

Summary: A great bathroom cabinet "just in case"
