Advantages: Slight Whitening effect
Disadvantages: granular texture and takes a while to see any difference
As a big tea and coffee drinker, I do sometimes worry about staining to my teeth. I had always thought that PearlDrops was an expensive brand, so when I saw a PearlDrops whitening toothpaste in my local Wilkinson's store priced at 99p, I just had to buy it. I was dubious about whether this would work and whether I would notice much difference because I don't think my teeth are particularly discoloured, but I thought it would be nice to have them a little whiter. So, not really expecting much, I added this product to my ever growing collection of impulse buy beauty products! The toothpaste comes in an upside down triangle tube, which you should stand up on the lid, which has a round base, which Pearldrops describes as the best way to squeeze every smile out. It is mainly white packaging, with the Pearldrops logo on the front.
When I first tried this toothpaste, I was pleasantly surprised. The taste was good, fresh and minty and the consistency was nice and thick. When I brushed my teeth with it, the product foamed up really well and left my breath smelling fresh and my teeth feeling squeaky clean. However, I did find that there was a very granular texture to this toothpaste which was slightly unpleasant. I found I had to swill my mouth out with water numerous times to get rid of this feeling. After using this product for over 3 weeks now, I think I can finally comment on the results. My teeth do look slightly whiter. I wouldn't say that this is a miracle treatment, and that every person who uses it will end up with teeth like a Hollywood star, but I do think it made a difference to the level of polishing my teeth were getting every night, which really did make a difference. I can honestly say that after using this in place of my normal toothpaste for over 3 weeks, I am more confident about the colour of my teeth. Also, even though it is not a huge tube, I have found I get a lot of use out of one tube, due to the thickness of this product. When I pick the tube up now, even after 3 weeks, I still feel like I have quite a lot of paste left, which is great considering it only cost me 99p!
This toothpaste is available in most leading supermarkets, Wilkinson and online.
Overall, I would recommend this, but I would watch out for the fact that although it says it is a whitening toothpaste, it is not an overnight solution and it might have different results on different people. I think it is a worthwhile buy, but like I said, not a quick fix. If you can get it on offer, like I did, I think it is worth buying.
Summary: worthwhile buy, but not a quick fix
