~A budget priced whitening toothpaste~

Sainsburys have a range of dental care products which are produced under the stores own brand name. The range includes a Sainsburys own brand Total Care Whitening Toothpaste product. I have used this product at times when it has been a cheap buy, due to my usual favorites not being on an offer or deal. At times like this the product felt like a better buy than other products I like such as those made by Arm and Hammer, Colgate, Sensodyne etc. I have found that in use this toothpaste works well enough to help keep my teeth clean and fresh feeling although the actual whitening aspect of the product is not as good as with other branded products I have used.


~Using the product~

The toothpaste comes neatly packed in a simple cardboard box and consists of a plastic type tube which contains the actual whitening paste. The size and shape of the tube is easy to handle and contains 100ml of the product. The material used to make up the toothpaste tube is soft enough to be squeezed gently so as to allow a good amount of whitening paste on to a toothbrush when needed. As with many similar toothpaste containers, squeezing out the last few drops of paste can cause a little wastage, although this is no more or less than when I have used other similar products.

In use I have found the taste and texture of the product to be reasonably good, with the toothpaste having a fresh feel to it and an even, easy to work with texture. I really like a nice fresh minty feeling toothpaste and as such I feel this product works fairly well as it can create a nice degree of minty freshness both during and after use. I like to use a nice amount of paste in order to achieve a fresh minty clean feel after brushing and having used this product I feel it is both easy and pleasant to use with it leaving my teeth feeling and looking nice and clean.

The so called whitening effect of this product is reasonably good, although it cannot work miracles. I find that when I have used this toothpaste and compared it to my favorite Arm and Hammer whitening toothpaste product, this one does fall just a little short of being as good. Obviously this is down to personal experience and is in no way a slight on this particular product as overall results from this product seem to be pleasing.

This whitening toothpaste is very well priced at just 75p per 100mls of product making it a good value buy when compared to other more expensive branded products. As I have found this to be a product that gives relatively good results, leaving my teeth feeling fresh and clean, for a very fair price I feel it is worthy of a 4 star product rating. I would like the whitening effect to be a little better but at this price I didn't expect it to be as good as it was.
