Advantages: Helps against acid erosion, specifically formulated for kids
Disadvantages: None
I always encourage my children to eat and drink the right foods, get their 5 per day, take in a good amount of excercise and generally maintain a healthy lifestyle. When it comes to their oral care, there is no exception and I'm always on the look out for good quality products.
I have sensitive teeth and I now know that this is due to lack of tooth enamel through acid erosion. Basically acid erosion is caused by the acids found in everyday food such as fruit, wine (not really a problem for children!) and fruit juices. Now that my daugher has a lot of her 'big' teeth, I want to try to avoid acid erosion as much as possible. I use the adult version of Sensodyne Pronamel which I really like, and had found that they had also released a version specially formulated for children.
I purchased this from Semi Chem at £1.89 for a 50ml tube, which I have found to be the most competitive price around.
The tube is easy for little hands to use, it stands on its lid, and has a fun cartoon tooth logo on the tube. It has a nice mild minty taste, but does taste a little different from kids regular minty toothpaste, so may take a little time to adjust to the new flavour (I know my daughter wasn't too keen at first, but after a few days she was fine).
The directions are listed on the back of the tube and as any other toothpaste, it is designed to be used twice per day. It states that teeth should be brushed for 2 minutes. I have bought my daughter an electric toothbrush which has helped no end in improving her oral hygeine routine. Ingredients are also contained on the back of the tube.
This product is recommended for children over the age of 6, children under that age should only use a small smear.
I know from recent visits to the dentist, that my daughter's teeth and brushing has improved from prior visits. Hopefully this is down to encouraging good oral care, and the use of good quality products such as Sensodyne Pronamel for Children.
This is now the only toothpaste I will buy for my children.
Summary: A good toothpaste to encourage good oral care
