WHAT IS IT?
Bubblegum flavoured toothpaste for children who are under 6 years old.
This toothpaste comes in a tube that shows Spongebob on the front with his mouth open to show his clean teeth. It has got a flip top lid that is quite big so that small children can open it themselves. The plastic tube is easy to squeeze and that makes the toothpaste come out easy even though it is thick like adult toothpaste.
WHAT I THINK
I like this toothbrush very much and use it for my youngest 2 children even though one is older than 6 but my dentist has said that is fine because she has most of her milk teeth still. This toothpaste is not strong enough for children who have got many adult teeth and then they need to move to another stage or adult toothpaste.
It has got a sweet flavour and smells and tastes just like bubblegum, I have tried to brush my own teeth with it and it does taste very nice but I did not think it was so effective at cleaning my teeth and that is because my teeth are all adult teeth now so I am too old for it. I like the look of this toothpaste also because it is different to other brands and it is white toothpaste with yellow stripes.
When I check my childrens teeth after they have brushed using this Spongebob toothpaste I am happy that they are very clean and their breath smells very fresh. It does not smell like bubblegum after they have brushed their teeth and I am glad about that but I can smell a little bit of sweetness that is pleasing and clean smelling.
My children like the taste of this toothpaste and I do not have to keep reminding them that it is time to brush their teeth. My youngest child is 14 months and she likes the taste of this very much and licks her lips when I am trying to brush her teeth, she laughs when she sees me pick up the tube and it must be because she likes the taste of it so much because she does not know who Spongebob is.
I paid only £1 for this tube of toothpaste and I think that is value because my children have been using it two times a day for a month now and there feels like there is still quite a lot left in the tube.
5 Dooyoo Stars.
My family usually uses the normal Colgate or Aquafresh toothpaste when it comes down to tooth cleaning, however I absolutely hate the taste of mint which makes tooth cleaning a pretty annoying start to my day. Therefore, I have had to start taking different measures such as using children's toothpaste(which is slightly embarassing) or other flavoured toothpaste (when i can find it!).
When browsing around a local poundshop, I spotted this toothpaste due to my slight liking of the Spongebob cartoons and then purchased it due to the fact it had a Bubblegum flavour. I'm not sure if this is available in places such as Asda, but there may be ones similar to it, as I have seen Colgate Spongebob toothpaste there.
I've used SmileGuard toothpaste previously, and I found they are a very reputable brand of good quality. Their SpongeBob branded toothpaste appears to be no different aside from the fact it is aimed at a younger audience and smaller so I assume it can be their own personal toothpaste. In fact, when I bought it, it did actually make my sister want to brush her teeth and not try and avoid it like she usually does.
The toothpaste was white and yellow, something that was a nice addition and obviously keeping in touch with the SpongeBob vibe. Although it doesn't make much difference when it's all frothy, it is nice to have a bit of difference from the usual boring white.
The main reason I bought this toothpaste was because of the flavour that the toothpaste claimed to be. The tube stated bubblegum flavour, and I have to say I was really pleased with it as unlike the taste of mint that toothpaste usually has, this was a great refreshing bubblegum scent that actually tasted nice to and not too sugary while it did seem a bit sweet.
There has been no problems with my teeth while using this toothpaste, and there was none either with my sister. After using this toothpaste, it does make your teeth feel clean unlike some of the other fruity toothpastes around.
Overall, I am very pleased with this toothpaste and would happily buy it again as it keeps me that one step away from having to start my day with a horrible taste. It tastes great and I think it is one of the good quality toothpastes that would encourage kids to brush their teeth.
In an attempt to get my little lad to take more care of his teeth and to encourage him to brush more frequently, and without any fuss, we recently bought him a tube of Spongebob Squarepants toothpaste for kids from our local Poundshop. Obviously we paid a pound for it and he was very excited to use it for the first time. He actually couldn't wait to get upstairs and clean his teeth before bed - and that's not something that happens very often in our house!
The packaging of the tube is what first attracted me and his mum (and the little lad) as it has a great fun cartoon likeness of Spongebob on the front and is obviously aim at kids. The tube contains 75ml of toothpaste and is a good size for the amount we paid, and especially considering it is a 'character' toothpaste.
The first time he used it we were impressed that the consistency is good and thick and didn't fall off his toothbrush. He loved the bright yellow and white stripes and said they were 'brilliant'. He got about cleaning his teeth straight away and said it 'tasted' nice. I asked him if it was as hot and minty as the last one he'd used and he replied that it wasn't and that this one 'doesn't make my mouth too hot'. Success then!
We only put on a pea sized amount onto his brush (as per the instructions) and I have to say I was pleased it didn't foaming too much in his little mouth, as this is something he has bother with and the foaming sensation actually makes him cough with some toothpastes we've bought him and I think that this, along with the hot minty flavour of some kids' toothpastes, can be a bit off-putting for kids.
Overall, we are very pleased with this new toothpaste. It's certainly encouraging him to clean his teeth more often. As soon as breakfast is over and done with, he's running up those stairs and cleaning his teeth without even having to be asked, so that can't be a bad thing in my book.
When I was younger, I grew up with some dental problems which were due to the lack of guidance from my parents. As a result, I encourage my kids to have good oral hygiene by brushing their teeth at least twice a day and flossing them. I also help them develop a daily routine in order to enhance their oral hygiene and to prevent them from those painful dentist visits.
My husband, children and I, use good quality, branded toothpaste while my 5 year old child uses a special toothpaste which is usually Aquafresh. However, while I was in Poundland, I spotted something just for him it was a toothpaste for younger children made by SmileGuard, a very well-known company for dental care. They don very famous characters on the front of the toothpaste tubes like SpongeBob, Spiderman, and Hello Kitty.
In Poundland there was Hello Kitty and SpongeBob so I went for SpongeBob. When my son saw it he went crazy as he is a big fan of SpongeBob.
~~The packaging, look, smell and texture~~
The toothpaste came in a soft plastic tube with a wide flap which was very easy to open. On the tube itself, there is a very cute picture of SpongeBob Squarepants's face in addition to some information about the toothpaste, the ingredients, contact number and the address.
I opened the protective foil to reveal the tooth paste. I was expecting white coloured toothpaste or a stripy one just like his previous blue and red striped (the aqua fresh) but I was pleasantly surprised to see something different this time. It was white toothpaste with yellow stripes just like SpongeBob's colour. The smell was amazing, it was mentioned on the tube that it is bubble gum flavour and it definitely smelt like bubble gum. I loved the smell, it was very sweet. As for the texture it wasn't any different than the normal toothpaste, same thickness and stickiness!
~~My son's experience and my observation ~~
My son's first impression was wow! He was astonished by the colour of the toothpaste; I suppose the makers knew that the colour would attract the user's attention for sure. I used a pea sized amount as instructed.
For the first time ever I didn't beg my son to brush his teeth. He was so excited to try it, so he held on the tooth brush and started to brush his teeth under my supervision.
The smell was really nice and my child didn't complain about anything. His previous toothpaste was slightly powerful and stung his tongue but with this one he looked happy. When he started to brush his teeth, the toothpaste started to produce foam, I wasn't so sure where and how this foam came from but my child didn't complain though it was slightly a messy job.
After he finished, I had a quick check to see if he missed anything and I was very satisfied with the result. His breath was nice and clean and his teeth were spotless.
This toothpaste has everything I wanted from it. It made my son's teeth healthier and it has indirectly encouraged my son to clean his teeth without me pushing him to do. This was done by using attractive, eye catching colours and some famous characters. I suppose they did a very good job. This toothpaste has been specially formulated to protect young children's teeth against cavities and it has fluoride to help strengthen tooth enamel.
It contains 1.1% of Sodium monofluorophosphate, 1450 ppm f
This toothpaste is for children aged 6 years and under so I suppose it's for milk teeth.
The flavour of the tooth paste was pretty new to my son and this was another positive point and above all the price was more than a bargain
~~Where to buy~~
I bought it from Poundland for only £1; however, it can be bought online for the same price excluding postage and packing. For example Amazon.co.uk does sell it for £1 too but they charge a ridiculous price of £4.88 per item for postage and packing. So I highly recommend buying it form offline stores like Poundland or savers.
It is available in two flavours, bubble gum and mild mint. My son only tried bubble gum so I can't comment on the other one.
I highly recommended using SmileGuard SpongeBob toothpaste not only because it freshened and cleaned my child's teeth and breath; it encouraged him to look after his teeth by brushing them more frequently without any effort from me apart from supervising him. The tube lasted for around 2 months which was good considering the fact that he brushed his teeth a minimum if twice a day. Both of us are very happy with our purchase and would love to buy it again.
