I regularly use a mouthwash as I like the fresh feeling it gives me, also if there are any small bits of food left after brushing this gets rid of them easily. I have tried many brands of mouthwash and haven't really got a favourite, but I will just buy whichever is on offer at the time I am buying it.
I bought this Tesco Freshmint mouthwash for just £1.79 when it was on offer which is a very good price as it is currently around £3. It is a 500ml bottle which is quite large and a bottle this size has lasted me for around six months with my usage. The liquid is a pretty blue colour and the bottle is clear so you can clearly see how much is left. It is alcohol free and is mild enough if you find that you swallow a bit accidentally.
This mouth wash has a cool minty taste which is quite delicate and doesn't take your breath away when you gargle it. It is designed to kill germs and to prevent cavities and it also fights plaque formation and helps to protect against gum problems. Adults and children over the age of six years old are advised to use it twice a day after brushing your teeth in the normal way by filling the cap up to the 20ml mark and gargling with the liquid.
I would say that I probably use it about twice a week and am happy with this. As I am the only person who uses the mouthwash I don't bother filling the cap and will just swig it out of the bottle. Obviously if you are sharing it you wouldn't be able to do this for hygiene reasons. I will swish the liquid from one side of my mouth to the other and then gargle for between five and ten seconds before spitting it out. It leaves my mouth feeling tingly and fresh and I am confident that my breath is fresh and there are no bits of food lodged between my teeth.
I do recommend this mouthwash, it makes my mouth and teeth feel very clean and freshens my breath and this sensation lasts for at least an hour after brushing. It is minty without being too strong so would be suitable for everyone in the family.
I've been buying Tesco Daily Care fresh mint mouth wash for almost a year now and I am generally happy with the results, especially when you consider the price of it against branded equivalents. It tastes quite nice and it does the job it is supposed to.
It costs about 60p for 500ml bottle which is very cheap. You never see it on special offer in Tesco, whereas there are often offers on Listerine and the others, but even so this is considerably cheaper than the other brands. For that kind of price difference, I really wondered if it could be as good as the other brands but I shouldn't have worried. The bottle usually lasts a few weeks with two of us using it daily. The recommended amount is one cap full, although I would think a cap full might be a bit too much for children to hold in their mouth as the caps are quite large.
Taste wise, it is lovely. It tastes a bit like Trebor Soft Mints. There is obviously definitely a minty flavour, but it is not overpowering in any way. One of the reasons I don't like Listerine is that I find the mint flavour too harsh and I can't gargle for very long with it, but this is not the case with the Tesco one. It is also missing that odd medical taste that strong flavoured mouth washes have, which is another bonus. The flavour is quite sweet actually and I sometimes feel like I am swilling a sugary substance around my mouth which is obviously much better than the normal taste of mouth washes, but then it doesn't give you that instant dental hygiene hit!
As for the freshness, I think it is pretty good. To be honest it is not brilliant, mainly because of the sweet taste it leaves in your mouth, which makes it feel like you've drunk a soft drink rather than washed with mouth wash. But the mint is strong enough to make you feel fresher and it does last for a while. The Tesco mouth wash range offers two flavours, this one and cool mint. Whilst they are both very similar in what they do and how they do it, I would say that the other cool mint one is slightly better with regards to leaving your mouth feel fresh. I just think it has a slightly stronger flavour than this one and it lasts a bit longer.
The mouth wash does everything that you'd expect, including fighting bacteria and keeping teeth clean. I actually started using it because I have two teeth that I can't get a brush between and my dentist recommended using mouthwash concentrated in that area. During my last appointment he commented that he could see a notable improvement in the teeth, so it is obviously doing the job it is supposed.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend the Tesco Daily Care range for helping with dental hygiene because it offers excellent value for money as well as making you mouth taste nice, I would however recommend the cool mint one over this fresh mint one because it does feel slightly more powerful and fresh.
Fresh breath confidence is so important. There is nothing worse than talking to someone with bad breath and in my profession, I spend much of my day talking to people and I need to feel confident to be in close contact with people. Mouthwash is one of the ways that I ensure that I am able to do this.
I regularly use mouthwash as part of my daily routine, which involves flossing, brushing and rinsing my mouth out with mouthwash.
I use Tesco mouthwash as it is reasonably priced and seems to be effective. there are no doubt better mouthwashes on the market, but they can sometimes be up to three times as expensive as the Tesco own brand.
The freshmint taste is not too strong (some brands can really 'sting' your mouth) and it leaves my mouth feeling fresh for a good few hours. I keep a bottle of this mouthwash at work with me so that I can 'top up and swirl at different times, depending on the schedule of my day.
The bottle is simply designed and the lid feels secure. I have never had any spillages whilst moving the mouthwash around.
As the Tesco mouthwash tastes very mild, I also use it for cleaning my toothbrush, I dip the brush in most nights, helping me feel that I am adding to my mouth hygiene routine.
I would suggest that this mouthwash is good to use with more expensive toothpastes, I would not want to use this with a cheap toothpaste...one or the other needs to be a quality brand in my opinion!
A nice cheap alternative to Listerine, with almost the same level of active ingrediets. - Advantages: Cheap alternative, More mouthwash per pound, Nice clean feeling after use - Disadvantages: Does not have the same 'eye watering acid killing the bacteria power' feel of listerine, Coolmint is better
