“ Brand: Wisdom / Care - Toothbrush / Type: Toothbrush / Skin type: for dry skin and for all types „
I had been meaning to replace my toothbrush for a while when I spotted a rather unusual-looking toothbrush in a local (independent) pharmacy recently. Inspecting the product for a closer look, I decided that it fitted the bill perfectly and handed over only £1 for the "V-Between Toothbrush" from the well-known "Wisdom" range of oral care products.
The product's "V-Between" name comes from the "Unique V-Shape filament bundles" according to the packaging, which is just basically the name given to the unique bristles that this toothbrush houses. The bristles are unique purely because of their shape: in a more traditional or average toothbrush, the bristles are usually straight, whereas on this product the bristles are housed in small triangular 'clumps' which gives the toothbrush a rather "jagged" appearance. The idea behind these V-Shaped bristles is of course that the shape will allow for further cleaning between the teeth, thus resulting in "A Thorough Clean", according to the manufacturers' claims at least.
The other aspects of the product are on a par with any other good-quality toothbrush that I have purchased recently, and none have caused any disappointment. Firstly, the handle is made of a rubber and plastic combination, so the rubber provides a perfect grip to be maintained when using the brush, and I have found this is the case even if my hands are soaking wet. Also, there are a couple of wide grooves or 'ridges' near the top section of the brush's handle which allows my thumb to rest there when I am brushing my teeth. All in all I think the design of the handle cannot be faulted, and my grip is maintained throughout my use of the brush without any sort of slipping being experienced.
Secondly, the bristles seem to be made of a fairly high-quality material and the brush feels robust when I am using it, without any of the bristles becoming loose or falling out, and this is the case even if I am brushing my teeth rather vigorously, which I often do.
The brush that I own has a "Medium" head which I believe is in relation to the harshness/stiffness of the bristles. This is the option that I would have chosen for myself even if I had been offered alternatives, but in my local pharmacy there was only the Medium option available. I am not keen on overly-harsh or "Hard" headed toothbrushes as I find they can cause sensitivity to my overly-sensitive gums. I have also found that Hard toothbrushes can make my gums bleed and they just feel unpleasant - and even sore - for me to use in my mouth. In terms of the "Medium" head on the Wisdom V-Between toothbrush, I find that the bristles are not overly harsh, nor does the brush feel hard or uncomfortable to use. Similarly, I find that the bristles are not overly soft, so that I feel I am merely 'tickling' my teeth and gums due to the bristles being too soft for my liking. I am aware that this description is making me sound like something of a goldilocks, but I like to feel like my mouth is refreshed and hygienically-clean after I have brushed my teeth, without needing bleeding gums or sensitive fangs to prove it.
Using the V-Between toothbrush is no different from using any other toothbrush in my opinion. I did wonder about my toothpaste 'clogging up' the gaps between the V-shaped bristle 'beds' but this has not become a problem and I have noticed no build-up settling here. I simply squeeze the toothpaste onto the V-shaped bristles in the way that I would with any other toothbrush and I am ready to brush.
I find the sensation of the V-Between toothbrush is surprisingly pleasant. I had been a little wary the first couple of times that I used the brush, mainly because the bristles are quite jagged and pointed in appearance - I think I was expecting them to FEEL jagged or slightly sharp when used against my gums and teeth. This has not been the case at all however, and I find the brush is really quite pleasant to use, thanks to the 'textured' feel that the V-shaped bristles provides. I also find that the specially-designed brush head provides a sort of 'massaging' feel to my gums and teeth as a result of the pointed 'grooves' in the bristles. I have encountered no discomfort or any sort of unpleasant feeling from using the brush at all, and would go so far as to say that I prefer to use this brush over the (many) alternatives that I currently possess.
I like to think that I care for my teeth and overall dental health as much as I can and I regularly floss my teeth to remove food particles anyway, but I can quite imagine that the pointed or 'jagged' design of the V-Between's bristles would help to clean between the teeth thoroughly, and certainly better than a toothbrush with straighter bristles. Certainly, after I have used the brush I am left with a refreshed mouth, sparkling teeth and absolutely no dirty residual matter or food particles left behind.
Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with my V-Between toothbrush and have already purchased one for my husband as I think the results are so good. I would recommend the brush quite highly and can only award it top marks as a result.
I have recently spotted the Wisdom V-Between toothbrushes on sale in a local branch of Savers, the discounted drugstore, where only the 'Medium' headed option was available (again!) I believe the brushes were on sale in the region of only £1 which I think is fantastic value.
~Reasons for Buying~
The main reason I bought this toothbrush was because I needed a new toothbrush and this one was quite cheap, at only 99p from Savers. I liked the look of the bristles on this toothbrush; they are slightly spaced out which looks as though it will help to clean in between each of the teeth to get them extra sparkling clean. It is medium strength so not suitable for people who have really, really sensitive teeth. Recently I thought I had sensitive teeth so tried a sensitive toothbrush for a change but had to stop using it because the bristles were far too soft and weren't cleaning my teeth properly. So I switched to this one and immediately saw the difference - its not that hard on your gums but it does its job really thoroughly and is exactly what I need.
The colour I chose this in was orange and yellow but there are other colours available, such as blue and white. The toothbrush is packaged in clear plastic and cardboard packaging - clear plastic over the front of the brush so that you can see what it looks like. There is a small amount of information about the toothbrush on the back of the cardboard packaging.
~Using the toothbrush~
The handle is sturdy and quite thick so it is easy to get a good comfortable grip on it so that it doesn't slip around or your hand doesn't slip off it while you are trying to use it. Also it means you can scrub as hard as you want and it won't bend or move where you don't want it to.
As the bristles are slightly spaced out, my first impressions were right, it does help the brush get between each of the teeth, and get to both sides of the tooth. I find this very handy and think it makes the teeth seem very clean and the mouth very fresh altogether.
Basically the toothbrush is easy to use and does the job well.
Taking everything into consideration; price, holding onto the brush and how well it cleans the teeth, I would give this toothbrush 5 stars out of 5. I think it is a really great product and especially at the price it was!
I would definitely recommend this brush without hesitation.
