After spotting that a friend seemed to have noticeably whiter teeth, I was intrigued as to how they had achieved it. I had previously had my teeth whitened a few years ago at a Beauticians, and while the results were fantastic, the hour long treatment was hell on earth and something I vowed never to go through again. My friend mentioned to me that she had used the Crest 3D whitening strips so I quickly bought them online eager to achieve the same results. I have now completed the 12 day at home treatment and have to admit that I am really happy with the results.

      Enamel Safe:
These particularly whitening strips are enamel safe so won't strip your teeth of all the good stuff. Because they aren't using any really harsh chemicals like some of them do, I would say they would be perfect for people relatively new to teeth whitening. My teeth aren't particularly yellow or stained, as I'm not a coffee drinker or a smoker, but they could do with just being a few shades whiter in my opinion. Because I don't have a perfect smile in terms of them being straight, I would like to make up for my reluctance to smile (!) with an added whiteness to them.

      Using the strips:
Using the strips is actually fairly straight forward, and you only need to use them in your routine for 12 days after which you should notice a difference. You need to wear each strip for 30 minutes per day and is straight forward to apply. Simply remove from the foil pouch and peel away the backing strip. Apply the gel side of the strip to the teeth and align with the gumline, folding the remainder of the strip behind the teeth to ensure each whole tooth has a full covering. Leave for 30 minutes and then remove and discard. You may notice a small amount of residual gel on the teeth, simply brush or rinse away. As the strips are flexible, they shape around your teeth to ensure the whole surface is whitened in one go.

      Results:
Don't be disheartened if you don't see any results straight away, it will take at least 6 or 7 days before you notice any difference whatsoever, although this does obviously vary from person to person. My friend said she noticed a difference after 5 days but it took me 7 before I could see any difference at all. My teeth look naturally whiter, a result I'm really pleased with. I don't have normal looking teeth one day and then teeth so white the next that you need sunglasses to look at me. I think a lot of people using these kinds of strips expect exceptional results which at the same time may look quite unnatural, so it is best to make sure you are using the right product for your requirements. For example, Crest Whitestrips also do an Advanced product called Advanced Vivid which provides a dramatically whiter effect, while the Whitestrips Gentle routine takes up just 5 minutes per day and is better suited to users with sensitive teeth.

      Are they safe:
I chose this particular brand partly because it had been recommended, but also because it is manufactured by Crest, which is a household name in dental hygiene. There are so many products on the market from brands I have never heard of, and it is difficult to know which are reputable. While I have been using this product I haven't ever had any pain or discomfort either during or after use, and although I would only use them every now and then, I know of a few people who use these all the time with no problems at all.

      Price & Availability:
They are actually quite difficult to find, mainly as they seem to be an American brand. You can pick them up on UK sites for around £30+, or take a look on Ebay at American sellers. They are on the pricey side, as there are similar products on the market for much cheaper prices, however I'm not sure if they would provide the same results. I absolutely recommend, my teeth look whiter which in turn makes them look healthier.
