I have always liked Rennie's for indigestion and think they work really well to get rid of the uncomfortable burning sensation. However they are not particularly great tasting so I was curious to try the orange flavoured ones to see if these had a nicer taste than the originals.
I am lucky that I don't suffer from indigestion all the time as I know a lot of people do however when I have overindulged which to be honest I can do on a fairly regular basis I can get fairly painful heartburn and an uncomfortable stomach.
I always keep some kind of indigestion remedies in the house and Rennies are as good as anything else so I will pick some up if they are on offer. I actually paid full price for the orange ones because I was so curious to try them out. They weren't hugely expensive though and cost me £1.75 for a pack of 24 tablets. For me 24 tablets will last a good amount of time as I only need to use them occasionally so I didn't think this was a bad price.
You can ether suck or chew these tablets after a meal when indigestion and heartburn strike. Unlike a lot of medication these can be taken quite often when you feel the need but you shouldn't take more than 16 tablets a day. I find it hard to believe most people would need to take 16 tablets a day unless they were suffering really badly in which case they should probably go to the doctor and get something a bit stronger.
I'm pleased to say that these are just as effective as the original Rennies and get to work quickly. These helped with both my stomach and also my heartburn quickly. I prefer to suck them rather than just chew them as I think it makes them more effective. I have no idea if this is the case but it works for me.
Although these helped with all my symptoms of indigestion and heartburn and the orange flavour was pleasant and a lot nicer than the originals they were still chalky and I actually missed a more minty flavour as I find it a bit more cooling on my throat and stomach and it just felt weird to be sucking orange flavoured tablets for indigestion. However they were effective it was just that they were different from the normal heartburn remedies and might not be to everyone's taste.
If like me you like Rennies but think that they taste absolutely vile then you should try these. I thought they worked and liked the orange taste but for me I probably wouldn't buy them again unless they were on a really good offer as I prefer something more minty to cool down heartburn quicker.
I am rather lucky in that I don't suffer too much with heartburn unless I am pregnant however when I do it seems to get really bad really fast and so I always carry around heartburn relief. I normally have the Tesco's own flavoured tablets as I am not keen on Gaviscon and I don't like the mint tablets however they didn't have them in stock one time when I wanted to buy them so I ended up with these instead.
The product is made by Rennie who also makes them in a couple of different mint flavours and a multiflavour pack which I am not too keen on as I don't like Rennies lemon tablet. The tablets come in a cardboard box where it is easy to see that the product is from Rennie but also easy to see that they are orange flavoured too. The box I bought was just over £2 and contains 24 tablets inside which is pretty decent as these will last me a few months.
The tablets provide fast effective relief from indegestion and heartburn, it states on the back of the box Rennies work by neutralising stomach acid and relieving the symptoms of indigestions, heartburn, flatulence and upset tummies. The tablets come in plastic fronted strips with foil on the back and are orange in colour, the foil is printed with Rennie across the back too. Each strip holds 12 tablets so ideal for popping in your handbag. To take the tablets you simply push on the plastic covering the tablet and it will push through the foil at the back, an adult can take 2 tablets at a time and can take a maximum of 16 in any 24 hour period.
The tablets have a bit of a chalky texture but not too much and they not only taste of orange but also smell of orange too, I find that they work really quickly and really help when I get heartburn and work really quickly too. If my heartburn is really bad I find it best to take one and then take a second one rather than two at a time. I would recommend these and will probably buy these now rather than the Tesco fruit flavoured ones as I really like the flavour of these and they are a 5 star product in my opinion.
Having used various tablets for indigestion I recently decided to change and see how good Rennies are. I remember my mum using Rennies years ago and having tried them at the time I remembered the awful taste they had. Last week I went to get some more tablets and found that they did not have Tums in stock and Gaviscon was not on offer. All the packs they had were £5 and over and then I saw Orange Rennies. Surely these would have to be better than the original ones.
They stood out on the shelf due to having a bright orange box so I went for the smaller of the packs - the one with 24 tablets.
There were the normal warnings that you get with this sort of product and that is not too take more than the prescribed dose, not to give to under 12 year old and not to take for a long period of time. 16 a day is the limit but there was one thing that I found strange and that was the instruction to take an hour after meals. For me that is very quick for heartburn or indigestion to start so I decided to do what I normally do and wait for the symptoms to begin.
The taste was quite pleasant and clearly orangey so it took away the bad memories I had of using them. As usual I chewed them and there was not the unpleasant chalky taste that comes with some tablets. They did the job within 10 to 15 minutes and I will be happy to use these along with Tums when the symptoms are not too severe.
Orange Rennie contains 500mg Calcium Carbonate per tablet, and this is the equivalent of 200mg of Calcium.
I bought these in Superdrug and paid £2.09 for them.
I never go anywhere without indigestion tablets in my handbag, they are an essential for me. When I was in my local Tesco recently I spotted these Orange Rennie indigestion tablets, I had never noticed them before and decided to buy them. I have tried different flavoured indigestion remedies in the past and found some of them to be quite pleasant. They cost me £2.00 for a box of 24, they are also available in a pack of 48 too.
Rennie Orange are sold in a regular box which is red and orange in colour, it has Rennie written across the front in bold white letters and just below this it says that these are orange flavour. The front of the box also informs the customer that these are calcium carbonate and will give you fast effective relief from indigestion and heartburn.
The back of the box states that orange flavour Rennies work by neutralising stomach acid and relieving the symptoms of indigestions, heartburn, flatulence and upset tummies, it also says that these are suitable for pregnant ladies, however you should consult your doctor before taking them.
The dosage is given as no more than 16 tablets per day for adults and children over the age of 12 years. The box contains an information leaflet which gives all the relevant details you may wish to know and the box advises reading this before you take the tablets.
Inside the box the tablets are in 2 blister packs, they are square shaped and a pale orange colour, they smell orangey too, the tablets are easy enough to push through the back of the strip and they don't crumble when you do it.
The first time I tried these I was really surprised with just how much orange flavour they have, they are quite fizzy too a bit like a sherbet sweet, they do leave a slight chalkiness in my mouth but on the whole they are very pleasant. Taste aside though the main thing is do they work and as far as I'm concerned they do. I have found they relieve heartburn or indigestion fairly quickly, I usually take 2 at a time and I find this clears any indigestion I have.
I would certainly recommend orange Rennies, they work fast and are pleasant to take, they can be crunched up or you can just let them dissolve in your mouth, I have tried both methods and they work equally well. If you suffer from indigestion or heartburn and don't like the taste of regular indigestion tablets then I would certainly consider these, I will definitely be buying them again.
