Can i just say that if i could find the funds to make this superb item again i would. i remember the nights as a child. i would have a cough or cold my mother would light the vapouriser and a restful night was had by all i still have the same one today,a little tired but it is still doing a good job for my little ones.
Blew the cobwebs of our reliable and trusty friend to use myself for a bout of croup, which brought back fond memories of the use of wrights vaporizer for the benefit of our four children in the 1970's when ever they had chesty colds or croup. Its still in good working order looking a bit worse for wear but what a trusty friend this vaporizer has been.Cant believe it has been dis-continued when the instances of croup and asthma are soaring.Come on wrights bite the bullet and re-introduce this great invention -so simple to use and safe when used correctly. My children are now in the late thirties but what a great standby this would be for my many grandchildren.Old father time hasnt brought anything out to match the wrights vaporizer so lets hope wrights have a re-think by reading the reviews as they would be onto to a winner.
Please will someone start to manufacture the wrights coal tar fluid that was my life line, when my son was small and suffering from croup attacks. I still have my battered Vapourisor but would can't get and fluid. I have a small Grandson and would like to be prepared if he ever suffered an attack. This was avery good product, and it worked!!!! Why has it dissapeared?
Both my Children suffered from croup and I found these invaluable there is nothing that did the job light the Wrights coal tar burners, we had both the can with the tea light then the electric one. I have since found out that they have discontinued making these but after seeing how many people need them (they also have a facebook page) I think we need to keep on to the makers to make sure that they bring them back!
My son spent his childhood (from 16 months to 7 years) suffering from croup, and we must have been the best customer for Wright's Coal Tar Vapouriser. We were obliged to change to the electric version, and, when we no longer needed it I put it in the cupboard with a new stone block and a full bottle of fluid. My son is now aged 31, and we had him and his family to stay over Christmas. The 15 month old was full of cold and had a bad cough, so we resurrected the vapouriser. It gave everyone uninterrupted sleep during the nights. I have been to the chemist to replace the fluid now the family has gone home and am so disappointed to discover that it is no longer made. Please will an enterprising pharmacist/chemist/scientist reproduce the fluid.
Surely there is a company out there who can analyse an existing sample, and then recreate, the coal tar fluid that we used to use to help our children breathe when they had colds or croop attacks. The new vaporisers are basically useless, and my own grandchild is actually showing signs of being allergic to the vapours associated with the new plug in systems. It would be quite easy to recreate the tin night light holder or even the 'stone' fluid recepticle, but the problem appears to lie in the recreation of the actual coal tar fluid!!! If there is a problem with the use of such a liquid, and it has been proved that it was dangerous in some way, then would someone let me know, as I would be horrified to find that I had been administering something harmful to my children for so many years. And if this was proved to be the case, then I believe that we should have been told about the dangers of using the Wright's Fluid at the time when we were using it!! So please can someone let me know if the fluid was actually safe? And can someone out there let me know if they can recreate the fluid. I may have access to funds available in the near future, that could be used to manufacture a new modern version of the fluid, receptacle and oil warming stone.
I cannot believe that the one & only thing that got me through my childhood coughs & colds is no longer available. I had & still suffer from very bad catarrah & now my daughter who is nearly 4 is going through the same thing. There is just nothing out there today that can hlep clear it like WRIGHTS VAPORISER did for me all those year ago. I am 36 now & can still remember that wonderful smell which used to give me comfort at night. I used to love watching the flicker of the candle too, i think thats what helped me go to sleep some nights. Please please bring this product back as it will always be the only effective remedy for me & hopefully my daughter.
SIMPLE PRODUCT - BRILLIANT CUREI agree with ALL the reviews. My sons were treated with Wrights Vaporiser (the original one) and NEVER needed antebiotics for any chest infections etc. They are now 37 and 34. A friend's child was saved with this during a very severe bout of whooping cough. His doctor was amazed. I still have mine. And one bottle of fluid. Surely some enterprising alternative health manufacturer could make up the liquid. My husband is a stainless steel/metal specialist and could make up the container. All we need then is the Block and childrens lives could be improved. I am a retired nurse and know how well this works.
Please bring it back. My daughter always had a very dry cough when she was young and I found this was the only thing that worked for her. No Cough medicines worked but this really did. She's now nearly 21 and when she gets a cough she gets a cough and still nothing works!!!Someone really needs to do something to help these poor people, as I would certainly buy it if it came back. The electric ones that took over are rubbish. Nowhere near effective
Who can tell us WHY it is no longer available, there is clearly a market for it. I can only suppose that Health & Safety have banned it on the grounds of the night light being considered dangerous. Does anybody else know why it was taken off the market?
I can only agree with all the reviews previously posted. I used the Wrights vapouriser for my children and now have grandchildren who would greatly benefit. Someone somewhere surely must be able to re-introduce it. From the reviews it would certainly be a nice little earner for someone and certainly a Godsend for 'chesty' children everywhere.
I remember as a child my mother always put the Wrights vaporiser in our bedroom whenever my sister or I had colds, coughs or congestion causing breathing difficulties and it was so effective she never used anything else. I now have a seven month old grand daughter with croup and I cannot believe this vaporiser is no longer available.
Please can someone re-introduce this harmless and drug free device which brought so much relief to suffering children like me 50 years ago. There is nothing on the market to compare its effectiveness. Surely it must be beneficial for thousands of children particularly those suffering with asthma, bronchitis, and other chest infections for the medical profession to urge the pharmaceutical industry to re-introduce this vaporiser in order to help alleviate the chronic symptoms of these illnesses and provide effective relief, rather than prescribe antibiotics and steroids for children like my seven month old granddaughter.
I completely agree with Marilyn M's review on the Wrights Coal Tar Vapouriser. I used it for years and it was hugely helpful in easing the breathing. I tried and failed to find it. Please can we have it back on the market
Come on someone - please reintroduce something like t Wright's vapouriser. I've just had need to drag mine from the cupboard - thankfully it was still there - and use the last remaining drops of fluid. I've been keeping it for an absolute emergency. Struggling with pleural inflamation and a painful cough nothing else had given any relief! 2 nights with the vapouriser have truly helped to shift it all. PLEASE come back on the market!
Wrights Vaporiser - I have just got it out the cupboard and it's a while since I last needed it but my young son has croup and I thought I'd use this as I did my older two children because it genuinely worked unlike the plug in vaporisers on the market now, unfortunately my block needs replacing as does the fluid as it is out of date and I am astonished to see it is no longer produced what a loss of an excellent product!!!!
