Warranty Direct
by goldenboy2
I can only say initially, as my policy only started early 2012. However, my experiences with W/D. are, when compared to previous breakdown insurances That I have owned, BRILLIANT!
Firstly, I was given a policy that covers three years, needless to say the cost was what I considered reasonable for my Jaguar over the three years. My ... Jaguar is a top model and therefore not cheap to repair, especially at a franchise dealer, which incidentally, needs to be arranged at time of purchase and yes it does cost a little extra.
I was not as you can imagine best pleased when I got a "faulty compressor" reading on my dash board within a few weeks of the policy starting. The usual "Fair wear and Tear" phrase came to mind from previous experiences. Those of us who have had breakdown insurance know the phrase only too well.
The car was taken to my garage who contacted W/D. for permission to check the car over with a view to repair the problem. With positive answers coming from W/D. I was not privvy to the discussions but the results were in my favour and very swift.
Because I have chosen to use a franchise dealer I need to pay the dealer and then contact Warranty Direct with the receipts etc. All this, well, nearly all this was done on the net and was very speedy.
The upshot is I was paid in full within a few days of the repair and I'm a happy bunny. I'm also feeling confident that any further genuine claim will be dealt with in the same way. Five stars from me so far but the nice thing is I feel that I can trust my insurer. Well done Warranty Direct. goldenboy2 Read the complete review |

Lifestyle Group Insurance (LSG)

Hey, I have this insurance through my Halifax bank account. I damaged my Iphone on the 9 June 2012, Phoned them first thing the next morning to make my claim. They told me that the claim form will be posted out to me and I am to fill the form in and send it back along with my phone etc. I waited a whole week for the claim form to arrive! ... Phoned them twice during the week and was told to be patient, the form will arrive. In the end I explained that I was not happy waiting a week for the claim form! The guy on the phone then said I could possibly do it online, however.... if you have already started a claim over the phone, you are unable to make a claim online! so why tell me? He finally agreed to email me the claim form. This arrived in a few hours and I was able to send the details and phone back, but not before having to pay £9.47 to send the phone off to them becuase they dont give you a pre-paid envelope for your phone.
I had to phone the insurance company to see how my claim was doing, becuase you dont get a letter of a phone call to let you know! They explained that my claim had been accepted and that I will get a new or repaired phone in 7 days. It has been 4 working days now and I phoned them to get an update to make sure someone was at home to accept my phone, and it turns out that they didnt send the phone off for repair until 2 days ago, so they have until Thursday to get it back to me! That takes it to 3 weeks for a simple claim.
I am more upset that no one at the insurance company can tell you when your phone will be delivered?? or whether it will be a new phone or reapired. I said to the man on the phone, "Will I get a courtesy call when my phones ready so that I know to be home" the answer was a straight, "NO!" I said to him "Shall I just wait in until thursday then to see if it arrives" He said "well just ring us Thursday for an update".
Shocking!! If its a courier delivering my phone then they could arrive at any time of the day between now and thursday! although I somehow think its going to be later that thursday!!
My sister had insurance through geeksquad. Her claim was accepted over the phone and was replaced 2 days later!! Looks like the way to go in the future! Read the complete review |

Warranty Direct

I used (an continue to use) warranty direct to insure 8 househole electrical items. Mainly kitchen goods plus a couple of others. The monthly premiums are low enough for them to not cause a huge amount of damage to your pay packet and they provide an invaluable service. I have called them out four times now, twice for a tumble dryer, ... once for a freezer and once for an oven. Three of the times I paid the £20 excess and they did the rest sending out a man when it suited me and arranging payment. The oven was not covered by their engineers so they told me to arrange a local engineer to fix, pay him and then claim the money back minus the £20 excess. My only two things to say that are negative are firstly, when they pay you any claim money, its by cheque (or was last time I had to), and secondly that the engineers (indesit/hotpoint i think) don't seem to be as customer orientated as the call centre guys and arent so good at keeping to their scheduling and promises. I'd recomend warranty direct for houshold electrical insurance. Read the complete review |
