WARRANTY DIRECT - GOOD SERVICE
Member Name: cotto
Advantages: Good efficient service.
Disadvantages: Garages not always keen on external repair policies since they have to liaise with a third party.
My car failed its MOT on a front wheel bearing and on being advised I simply told the garage to undertake the necessary work to ensure the car passed its MOT without any thought as to whether the work in question may be covered by the Warranty Direct policy. Work was undertaken to ensure the car passed its MOT and that evening after collecting the car and paying for the work, it struck me that perhaps I should have checked the policy before authorising the work although I had assumed the car would have passed its MOT and I was in urgent need of the car later that week.
I contacted the claims department at Warranty Direct to explain the situation, who in fairness said I should have advised the garage that the work may be covered by their policy and technically I should not have authorised the work without Warranty Direct speaking to the garage first.
Nevertheless they said they would consider the claim retrospectively if I submitted the MOT failure certificate advising of the fault in question, the MOT pass certificate following corrective work and the invoice itemising the various works and associated costs. Within two to three weeks, I received a cheque for the cost of the actual work covered by the policy less the policy excess.
In future I will advise the garage of the policy and hand it to them prior to leaving the car for service/MOT.
I was both very pleased and satisfied with the outcome thanks to the understanding of their claims administrator, Andy Brown.
Summary: Very pleased and satisfied with the eventual outcome
