Advantages: Saves time and money
Disadvantages: Small and easily lost
In this high tech world we live in there seems to be very little standardisation of electronic equipment. DVD's which play here not there and storage disks which work in the camera but require an adaptor to work on your PC. Similarly storage devices which hold your MP3 music for you MP3 player are often not compatible with your PC.
There are several formats of disk devices about and each has it's own merits and de-merits, fortunately with the SanDisk 6 in 1 PC adaptor the missing link is filled in and everything can be interchanged swapped or whatever. The package contains six apparently simple pieces of plastic which can all change the standard cards into one device easily used by your PC.
The devices supported are SD cards, Multi-media cards, memory sticks, smart media, memory stick pro and xD picture card. Each of these cards has it individual piece of plastic which converts it into a medium supported by your PC. Each unit has a stainless steel protective covering so they are pretty sturdy and should last a lifetime. The transfer of data between disks is both fast and very reliable
The use of these converters means that no matter which device you use or for which purpose it is used the information held on it can be readily transferred to your PC and hence it can then be transferred by the use of one of the other converters to another device. This in effect means that each card becomes a removable drive for your PC which can be written re-written and formatted as often as you wish meaning you won't have to fork out for any more disks.
The cheapest I have found of this pack of adaptors is £11.49, but I have seen them on offer for as much as £19.99. A google search will find you the best current deal and an investment of about £12 isn't such a bad idea when you think of the hassle involved in trying to get something from one of these disks to your PC should you not have such a package. It is possible but it's one heck of a lot of work considering the ease at which these adaptors do the job. Due to the quite small size of some of the pieces in this kit, it is advisable to find a safe place to store them, they are so easily lost or mislaid, they are an excellent idea and from a company highly respected in this field. Sandisk make a lot of the disk used in camera's and since they do not have control over the type of disk the camera manufacturer will use I guess it makes a lot of sense for them to have come up with such a good idea, and about time too.
Summary: A very handy package of adaptors
