I have four of these stable sheets as I find them so useful. Having tried several other types of stable sheets (otherwise known as 'summer sheets') I found these to be the best for quality and fit.
They are made of a good, heavy weight cotton, so are very durable. I use them for travelling to shows to keep the horses clean, also overnight in the summer before a show to keep them clean without getting too hot. In addition, as they are a nice weight, they are handy as a thin extra layer under a stable rug or turnout rug which isn't quite warm enough.
They are well made, with a double buckle at the front, cross surcingles and a fillet string. Both of my horses are large in the shoulder and quite chunky and I find these fit them really well without being skimpy or restricting. They also have a silky lining in the shoulder to minimise rubbing.
This is the only stable sheet I have found which stays in place perfectly and doesn't slip back at the withers.
I have a couple of different colours - lilac and baby blue, both of which are lovely and I have had several comments on how smart they look. They come in many other colours - the newest range consists of navy, red, brown, grey and a dark jade green.
At around £25, they are well worth the money in my opinion.
I have been using this rug for a few years now, in fact I have two of them for my native pony as they are so useful. The RRP for them is £42 but you can get them through cybercheckout.co.uk for £32.99 (no P&P either). I did get one at my local saddle shop for £29.99 so keep a look out for bargains.
The rug is made from 100% durable cotton and has a silky shoulder liner to prevent the rug rubbing the hair from your horse's shoulders. It has 2 t-bar closures are the chest and cross over surcingles to help the rug stay in place. It also comes with a fillet string to prevent it going up over your horse's bum. It is the same fit as the other Amigo/Rambo rugs which I find fit my horses really well. I use them regularly on my 13.3hh native pony and used to use one on my 16.1hh TB mare before she passed away. As my pony has a big neck and chest I do struggle to get rugs to fit her properly. I find the Horseware Ireland range fit her the best and it was the same with my TB.
I use the rug as an under rug for use beneath her winter stable rugs to keep the heavier rug clean on the inside which means less washing of big thick rugs when this one fits easily into the washing machine. I also use it to dry my pony off after a bath or when she is sweaty from exercise. Recently I have been using it as a thin stable rug too.
The rug is currently available in bright red (this looks lovely on my black and white mare), azure blue (again this is a lovely colour), brown, grey and navy. You can also buy it in lilac on eBay. The rug comes in pony fit (sizes 4ft 6 - 5ft 3) or horses sizes (5ft to 7ft 3).
I find that my pony looks really smart in her stable sheet and they last for ages. Carrie has had the same navy blue one for 3 years and it is still in great condition. She likes to scratch her bum on the stable walls and the stable sheet still hasn't split or torn. I thoroughly recommend these rugs for fit, style and durability all at an affordable price.
