      Buy one

I bought this rope last September for £25 after I completed my Positive Horsemanship level 2 course as I was looking for a slightly heavier rope than the 22ft one I had all ready. Vanessa Bee who runs the courses recommended the rope to me as she uses them for her horses. I bought a black one as it goesn't get as dirty as the white with blue fleck one.

The weight of the rope allows you to ask for movements without having to use as much pressure as you would on a lighter rope so it is good for helping you to refine your requests. The 12ft length is good for a starter rope as it gives your horse enough room to ask questions but not so much that it can get too far away and lose concentration when you are starting off.

I opted for a rope with out the clip as when you are asking for movements the clip can hit the horse in the jaw and can keep moving after you have stopped your request so the horse doesn't know when the pressure has been released. I find the rope is comfortable to hold and when my pony pulled away, it didn't give me rope burn. When you are asking for a back up or a recall, the rope slides nicely through your hand without snagging. My rope has been dropped, thrown on the floor, stood on by the horses, you name it and it still looks like new (well apart from the dirt).
