An ideal product of keeping safe

I cannot stress how important it is to be visible when riding a horse on the roads during times of poor visibility such as early morning and late afternoon when the light starts to fade. I myself have been fortunate never to have had an accident whilst riding a horse on the road but I do ensure that I can be seen with enough reflective wear even if it makes me look a tad silly I don't really care as it can save mine and my horse's life. One item I always use when riding my horse are the Equisafety Leg Boots. Before I purchased these I was already using reflective brushing boots on my horses but these eventually gave up the ghost and I set out replacing them. The reflective leg boots are made by Equisafety who are a leading manufacturer in high visibility wear for people, horses and dogs. I bought these boots online as I managed to get them cheaper than in store and as they come in one size only I didn't have to worry about getting sizings correct. The leg boots are incredibly simple to put on as they just attach over the horse's brushing boots or if you don't use brushing boots they can go simply around the horse's leg (I would however that you protect your horse's legs with brushing boots). The fabric is quite thin so it won't be uncomfortable for the horse as they are not bulky or heavy. The leg boots are made from an incredibly tough and durable black waterproof fabric which has two 2" fluorescent reflective bands. The reflective bands are stitched to the boots and are incredibly secure. As I said above the boots only come in one size and all you do is simply cut of the remaining Velcro once you have fastened the boot around the horse's leg. Just make sure you are happy with the tightness of the boot on the horse and ensure it isn't too loose or too tight as you don't want it to be uncomfortable for the horse. Equisafety have had their leg boots tried and tested by endurance and Le Trec riders not to mention their own testing team and not one of these testers came back with a single problem. For me these boots stay in the exact place I put them on when tacking up my horse. I did expect them to slip down a bit but they stayed securely in place over my brushing boots. This is great as some reflective items I have put over my boots have slipped down and it means getting off the horse and getting back on which can be a hassle after the fifth time! These boots will get muddy especially in winter as if like me you like going along bridlepaths you cannot escape the mud! The boots have been designed with the special waterproof fabric just to chuck in the washing machine and they come up as good as new and the reflective bands do not crack after a long period of use (similar products have). Once I had cut the Velcro I was worried that this area of the boots would fray after a long period of use but after 6 months the boots look as good as new and the fabric is all intact. The boots only come in black with either pink or yellow reflective bands and will fit a 11.2hh pony right up to a 17hh horse. They are sold in packs of 2 and I would recommend that you have one on each leg as they will be much more visible to a driver. They currently cost around £10.99 for a pack of 2 which I think is incredibly reasonable. For me these boots are great. Incredibly practical and fit all my horses well and are incredibly bright as soon as the daylight starts to disappear. They wash well and are incredibly strong which is ideal when out hacking as horse's can bang their legs easily. A bargain price for an item which is needed for a rider's safety. A recommendation from me.
