If you're looking for a decent, tough, heavyweight stable rug then the Rambo Original is your man.
The original Rambo cut has always fitted my horses beautifully. This rug has a double buckle at the front and cross surcingles, with a fillet string at the rear. All the horses I have used this rug on have a large shoulder and I find there is plenty of room. It is also deep enough so that it doesn't fit like a 'mini-skirt' which I find with some other rugs on chunkier horses. It doesn't slip back and stays in place perfectly all night.
With 400g polyfill, this is a very warm rug.
Cotton lining which is comfortable for the horse and doesn't rub.
It has a 1000 denier (so very tough) outer made of texturised polyester. This gives it a nice, soft feel on the outside without the 'outdoor rug' feel that many tougher stable rugs seem to have. This is one of the things I like best about this rug as it stands up to wear and stable stains etc but still moves with and moulds to the horse.
As far as I know you can only get this rug in grey or navy. The grey is a very smart colour though and the lack of colour options doesn't bother me at all.
This is not a cheap rug, at around £80-95. If you shop around you can sometimes get a bargain in a sale.
I have tried many different heavyweight stable rugs and this one tops the bill for me. I can use it on it's own for a fully clipped horse on a cold night and only need to add a thin under-rug when it gets really freezing. It probably gets the most use out of any winter stable rug I've had. It doesn't have a tail flap, which might not suit everyone, but I don't find my horses need this in the stable anyway.
The newer version of this rug has a neck rug which can be bought separately. They have also changed the front buckles to the angled double clip which is only found on Horseware rugs.
