The best rug brand out there - a little more pricey but fabulous quality!

I purchased a full wardrobe of new rugs for my pony this winter and my choices consisted of a mix of Mark Todd rugs and one other brand - but Mark Todd remains my firm favourite after my first purchase experience.

I usually purchase rugs from more specific rug brands such as Rhinegold and Shires but at the time I bought the new rugs I was looking for a heavyweight with a neck in size 4ft9, and the only one I could find online for a reasonable price was Mark Todd. I was a bit concerned it might be low quality as it was a lesser known brand, but at £54 in the sale I couldn't complain. I was unconvinced it would be good as it wasn't a regular brand though.

It arrived and was very well packaged, and I was feeling skeptical as I took it out of the bag (which I might say was a little small for the individual rug to fit into though), but I was completely wrong. It was just as good, if not better than my trusty Shires brand I've relied on for years! It was very comfy and cosy inside, made of strong material that was breathable and soft, absorbant and waterproof. The buckles were strong and evenly placed, the tail flap was generous and came down further than other rug brands do. It measured up to size very accurately and was even nicer when worn on my pony.

He can be very sensitive so after such a good first inspection I was sure my experiences would be ruined by the rug rubbing him. But no. After 16 hours of wear, I took it off again to find a very cosy, warm pony and absolutely no signs of rubbing. It fit him beautifully too and wasn't ripped at all which is always a good thing as my yard fencing can tend to be dodgy.

He's been wearing it for the rest of winter now and seems contented in it. 3 months on since purchase and it still is in immaculate condition, not ripped inside or outside, still keeps him warm and dry even through snow and hail and the buckles and straps have held up fantastically.

I was so sure the quality would be bad as most celebrity brand products can scrimp on quality but I'm so pleased it has been such a good experience. I will definitely order this brand again as while my usual brands are good, they are mediocre in comparison to this rug! They are slightly more expensive but come in a lot of pretty designs and have sizes to fit every horse.

They also have a range of rugs from light to medium to heavyweight. I can't recommend these rugs enough and look forward to purchasing a new wardrobe of them next winter, and will be checking out more products in the Mark Todd range in the meantime!
