      A great all round shampoo

I am a huge fan of tea tree oil as I really do think it has great properties for the skin. I'm also a big fan of it for my pets as I like to think it is great for healing the skin. One shampoo I have for my horses is NAF Tea Tree oil shampoo and I've been using it for at least 10 years if not more as a general every day shampoo.

NAF has over 25 years of experience in creating and manufacturing supplements and care products for horses (and now dogs). They are a renowned brand and pride themselves on using only the best natural ingredients.

NAF Tea Tree oil shampoo is a really thick pink clear shampoo which has an incredibly strong tea tree oil aroma which certainly lasts for hours after use! The shampoo comes in an opaque bottle but you can still see the amount of shampoo you have in the bottle together with its colour. The label is the usual bright pink label with a list of ingredients and a bit of blurb on the product itself.

Tea tree oil has excellent antibacterial and discinfectant properties for the skin. It can sooth skin irritations and skin infections but should always be used with care as some people and animals can have a reaction to it.

I use the shampoo as I said above as a general shampoo, one for frequent use. I use it more in the winter when I was the horses legs before they go in for the night. I only use a tiny amount diluted in plenty of water if I'm using the shampoo regularly especially on their legs but when using it to wash their tails or coat I use a decent sized amount to provide a good lather. The shampoo soon lathers up quickly and provides a thick white foam once massaged in well. The once quite potent tea tree oil aroma soon calms down once diluted with water and you get quite a subtle smell which lasts for quite a while.

The shampoo manages to shift any grass and general stains easily without any major scrubbing. I do find that this shampoo requires a lot of rinsing to ensure that all of the soap bubbles have disappeared but once the shampoo is fully rinsed out and the coat/ tail/ mane has been left to dry the coat is soft and looks incredibly clean, those horses with dark solid coloured coats will be left with a nice shine.

I've always liked using NAF Tea Tree oil shampoo as because my horses spend a lot of time outside in the field, should they have any cuts, bruises etc this shampoo can help sooth them without the need of applying anything to the cut especially as most cuts are relatively small and unnoticeable if the fur hasn't been taken off.

NAF have been selling this shampoo for years and I can understand why as it is so versatile. Cleansing, caring and looking after your horse is exactly what you want for a shampoo. It is available from all good equine retailers both in store and online and can be bought for around £4.50 for a 250ml bottle and around £6.50 for a 500ml bottle.
