Advantages: Plenty to keep all ages entertained
Disadvantages: None
A few eeks ago I spent a week at Butlins, Minehead. When my "outlaws" invited my family and sister and law I wasn't too sure, you see Butlins really had an image problems with knobbly knee contests and all "hi-de-hi", then I saw the BBC prog. Back to the floor when the MD of Rank spent a week at Minehead as a red coat. That made up my mind as the place had just had a multi million pound makeover. We all stayed half board and I can only sum up the food in one word - Fantastic. You get allocated a time to eat breakfast and evening meal. The breakfast was a choice of cereal, toast and full english with drinks. The 3 course evening meal was different every day and a choice of approx 6 different meals and 3 sweets. The waiter we had was very accomodating and pandered to our needs. Kids also could choose from the adult meals or have a meal of their own. The entertaintment in the main dome was good with circus acts, puppet shows on all day. Noddys Toyland with gentle rides and the fun park with rollercoaster and stomach churning rides was all free to residents and day visitors alike. Ample restaurant are on site as well as an english and irish pub. At night you can take your pick from 3 different night spots depending on your taste in entertainment. The accomodation we stayed in was good with TV, Sky and Video as well as tea/coffee facilities. But the best part had to be the indoor swimming complex. 3 Different slides and a rollercoaster dinghy ride as well as the lazy river and wave machine. All in all a fantastic time had by all and well recommended.
