Advantages: Should be a relaxing journey
Disadvantages: read lol
I came to Barrow in Furness for a holiday and ended up staying as this is where my now husband lives. Every Christmas we go to my familt in Rugby and have always used rail, until the year bright spark hubby passed driving test and bought a car, what a wonderful idea of his to travel in the car!! (not) After many attempts to steady his nerves with lots of coffee the jittery hyper man sets off. Where we live it takes an hour to connect to the nearest motorway, so a nice steady drive on familiar terrotory, until, theres the motorway, we all had to hush as he joined onto the m6 and keep quiet whilst he got into the right lane. Next he ferverently kept us on our toes checking the junctions were where they should be according to his map. All was well until BIRMINGHAM, shouldnt be a problem but we got lost. I swear I know the spaghetti junction better than the back of my hand. He admitted defeat and phoned at AA who very nicely guided us back on track. Six hours after setting off ona four hour journey we arrive at Rugby and celebrate with family and have a good holiday. Then, we have to come home, managed brilliant, got to Birmingham and we all joked about getting lost when Phut Phut Phut the car stopped. Perhaps it didnt like our jokes but no it had broken down. Lovely AA man took us home when we discovered the cam shaft had snapped. Well we were the butt of family jokes all throughout the year when hubbys brain is once again taken over by aliens and he decides we will once again travel by car and show them we can do it right!! You know its a mistake from the start, we get there fine and spend the whole visit putting pride back as we made it with no problems. Coming home its looking good, two miles from Birmingham and bang! tyre blows out. We were lucky to pull in and phone another lovely AA man who discovered the wheel axle had buckled, so another tow home. Well this year we are going by train and the
car well, lets just say it stays clear of the B word.
