Advantages: Very entertaining show, I laughed through most of the performance

Disadvantages: Some people may think it's weird to see men in tutus

I saw Les Ballets Trockaderos de Monte Carlo when they performed at Milton Keynes Theatre. This male ballet troupe dances both the male and female roles recklessly, unashamedly displaying body hair alongside extravagant stage makeup.

Their dancing skills are impressive. They dance gracefully (except when they don't) and on point, something that makes them a bit of a legend. The fact that they pepper their performances with deliberate blunders and accidents without injuring themselves displays a high level of expertise.

There was an example of the domino effect when a line-up of posing ballerinas came toppling down because one "clumsy" dancer bumped into the one at the front. But what was really funny was the way that they picked themselves up and carried on as if nothing had happened.

The Dying Swan is one version I'll never forget, and I can't help wondering if they managed to pick up all of the feathers.

I'm not very keen on ballet, but I really enjoyed this.

For more information, their website is: http://www.trockadero.org/

Their next ports of call are Japan, then France, then Thailand, followed by a couple of weeks in Australia.

Summary: Awestruck!

This sounds very appealing - I think ballet generally takes itself a bit too seriously normally.
