Young readers may not know that there was life before suitcases on wheels were invented, they may think that wheels have always been an integral part of a suitcase, in fact they may not use the word suitcase at all but only talk of trolleys. A recent trip to China involved so many stopovers and changes of hotel that my favourite Antler Trolley case had its stand smashed by over-zealous baggage handlers. With a week to go there was no way I could buy another Antler case from the airports at over ten times the cost in the UK. The poor bag fell over and dropped off the luggage racks at every opportunity and so I was desperate by the time we reached Wuhan to get a replacement at a sensible price. With a one day stopover in Wuhan we didn't have much time; this is a city on the edge of the Yangtse river, noted for its fairly flat plains and regular river traffic.
