Mission Beach

Mission beach was my second destination when my boyfriend and I travelled the east coast of Australia. When I arrived it was like paradise, I had never seen a place like it. We stayed at a wonderful backpackers called Scotty's Beach House and the people there were very helpful and even helped us book our Fraser Island experience and our Whitsunday Sailing experience. At the hostel they offered a "work for a bed" type scheme where you could for instance be the pool cleaner or the mini bus driver and you would get a bed in a room for a discounted price, which is ideal for those on a tight budget. I went to mission beach in the beggining of April this year, it's a town between Townsville and Cairns in North Queensland, Australia. It is 14 km of nice beaches, and it's a very good place to go if you want to experience the Great Barrier Reef because it's only 38 km away from Mission Beach where you can do snorkelling and diving. There is a small island just of the town called Dunk Island, there's also Hitchinbrook Island which is south of Mission beach. It's also located in the wet tropics of Queensland, so they boast a huge range of plants and species, including the famous but rare bird now endangered Cassawary.
