I went to mission beach in the beggining of April this year, it's a town between Townsville and Cairns in North Queensland, Australia. It is 14 km of nice beaches, and it's a very good place to go if you want to experience the Great Barrier Reef because it's only 38 km away from Mission Beach where you can do snorkelling and diving.
