Advantages: a beach that will take your breath away
Disadvantages: a little pricey
This year I did something extremely different for Christmas and happily accepted my brothers kind invitation to spend 14 days in Thailand (Phuket) with him and his lovely girlfriend.
My initial thought after my excitement subsided was "it's not going to really feel like Christmas...no cold weather....no carol singers..."
Wow, what a suprise I was in for!
To say that this year has been my best Christmas ever is an understatement, and it's all thanks to the glorious weather and the stunning patong beach.
First off, the pictures you may have seen in various travel brochures are absolutely spot on to the point where it actually takes your breath away. A beautiful blue sea with endless white sands, it's tranquility at it's best...you can even be pampered whilst sunning yourself and opt for a relaxing foot massage, just thinking about this makes me want to go back.
I found one short downfall whilst topping up my tan, and that was you will be approached all the time by the locals trying to sell things to you. Normally I'm quite happy to browse through items for sale and put my bartering skills to the test but when it gets every 5 minutes and you just want to relax then it becomes a little frustrating and the locals are so friendly that I didn;t want to come across as ignorant.
I also found the price to rent a sun lounger a little pricey at 100 baht each which works out at approx £2, so for a large family visiting the beach daily, this can really cut into your spending money.
Over all, I think Patong beach is awesome and a big thumbs up for me.
Summary: Patong beach at Christmas time, I couldn't ask for more.
