Advantages: Tons of unusual shops all under one roof. Some great bargains to be found.

Disadvantages: None!

I am originally from Cheshire, so I used to spend many weekends shopping in Manchester, and I have to say that Afflecks is one of my favourite shopping destinations!

Afflecks is located right in the city centre of Manchester, in what is known as the Northern Quarter. I would estimate that it is about a 10 minute walk from Piccadilly train station. It is housed in a pretty old building which seems pretty huge as you walk around it, it must have about 5 floors!

Afflecks is known for catering to the more alternative market, but I believe there is something for everyone in Afflecks, with a number of local designers setting up shop there. I won't list all the shops, but I'll list some of my favourites and the more popular ones.

Firstly, there is a new shop called Oh Hell, which sells unique hand printed tees. I would say they are aimed at the alternative market with designs such as ouija boards, and upside down crosses, but I really love everything they produce. Their price points are around £18 per t-shirt which I think is fairly reasonable for a unique product.

Another one of my favourites is called Me&Yu and this is situated on the 3rd floor. I would say this store has something for everyone, and specialises in handmade clothes such as t-shirts and bags with cute designs. I got a star printed should bag from here when I was at Uni, and it's still going strong years later which I think is a testament to their quality.

There is so much in Afflecks, it's hard to condense into a concise review. Basically if you are looking for something unusual and unique this is the place to come. You can get all your fancy dress gear, crazy coloured hair dye, jewellery, shoes, corsets, beads, and vintage clothing!

The site also houses a barbers, and piercing studio, so it pretty much has everything you could want under one roof.

You can even purchase Afflecks gift vouchers now, which would be the ideal gift for most young people I would have thought!

The exact location of Afflecks is 52 Church Street. Opening hours of 10.30 to 6pm Mon to Friday. 10am - 6pm Saturdays, and 11am - 5pm Sundays (only the ground and 1st floors are open on Sunday).

I would definitely recommend having a wander through Afflecks if you find yourself in Manchester, you will be sure to find something completely unique!

Summary: A wonderful building which house some fantastic locals shops and businesses.
