Advantages: Lots to see and do - great in the school hols for children

Disadvantages: Busy on key days - Mother Day / Bank Hols

Amerton Farm is located on the A518 inbetween Weston and Uttoxeter in Staffordshire (though nearer Weston). Amerton has its own website and this accurately documents all of the facilities and shops available, and indeed it is something for everyone.

Calling in today to order my daughters birthday cake from their Cake & Sweet Shop, which incidently they've agreed to make as an amalgamation of two of their own previous designs (very accomodating), I noticed the arrangements that were in place for the school summer holiday.

There is a sandpit in place, two fairground rides, delicious Amerton ice-creams, rides on landrovers over the fields (extra charge), ferrett racing (certain days of the week), punch and judy shows and Isabel the steam engine. Really bringing a seaside feel to a part of England quite land locked. I'm not sure if they are doing donkey rides - but a previous year when I took my daughter they did. Visit the farm animals (pigs, ducks, cows, goats, ponies and chickens) aswell as the Rescue Wildlife Centre. There is also a toy shop.

If the weather turns (which is rare for the UK - maybe), there is an indoor playbarn actually in a barn and in one of the other out buildings you can choose a piece of pottery and paint it - there are two forms to do this a quick method whereby you can leave the pottery for an hour or so and collect it - or a second method which involves collecting the pottery on another day. If you don't live near - go for the first option.

The cake and sweet shop I have already mentioned, but there is also a tea room, bakery, farm shop, gift shops and the list goes on. I really believe it is a place for everyone to visit. It becomes hugely busy on days such as Mothers Day / Bank Hols and whilst I'm sure its tempting to visit at these key moments picking an alternate day can be preferable.

There is also the facility to have childrens party here in the playbarn, I have been to one with my daughter which was in November and the room that they ate in after the playbarn was abit chilly (infact freezing) - as a parent and a child wrap warm for that.

Summary: Everyone should go here at least once

We actually go here fairly regularly - went the other day to be honest. (Review of my own to follow, no doubt!)

Hope your daughter enjoys her birthday cake. They really are beautiful designs.

In answer to the previous question - there's no admission charge to the farm, shops or shows but other attractions (including the playbarn and wildlife centre) have seperate charges.
