Advantages: Good pool

Disadvantages: Mainly arcade type amusements

I recently went to Butlins Bognor Regis on a day trip. With me were two other adults & 4 children ages 5,6,9 & 11. We were disappointed to find that there wasn't much to do apart from the great swimming pool or loads of amusement arcade type games. There were also a lot of shies in the complex which were £1-2 per go which amounted to quite a lot during the day. There was an adventure playground & a few fairground rides but we felt that we could have gone to the local seaside for this! We had to enquire about the archery as it was listed on the leaflet but when we arrived at approx 11am, it was locked up. (it stated on the leaflet that it was open 10am-12noon & 1-3pm). When we enquired as to why it was closed, we were told that we had to be there 15 mins befor it opened or it would not be opened! We could not have got there before 10am as the day visitors can only go in from 10am. We did eventually get to have a go at the 1pm session after arriving at quarter to. That was good! As for the rest of the complex, i can't say anything good as unless you like shopping, gambling & pubs there is little to do! The cleanlinless of the toilets was disgusting also. They were all smelly! Staff at the site were like zombies. Ask them a question & they look at you like you've asked them to climb a mountain! We asked one girl if they still had roller skating at the complex & she looked at us with a blank expression & said nothing. My sister said to her that by that look, she obviously didn't know & with that she made a tiny sound & looked sheepish! We walked off! We noticed that about 40% of the games that required money to work (battery operated cars/games etc.) were not working & would just take your money. When we complained about this, we were told that these games were not owned by butlins so we had to complain in the amusements arcade. We did get some of our money back but were told that they would not be putting out of order signs on them. Thus, making more money out of unsuspecting holiday makers. In general, DON'T BOTHER WITH BUTLINS. IT'S A RIP-OFF.

Summary: Complete rip off. Go to the beach instead!
