Advantages: fun for everyone, always something to do whatever the weather
Disadvantages: sometimes accomodtion could be cleaned more throughly
we've been going to butlins bognor regis for the past 7 years, and i have seen many changes in that time some good some bad.
we watched the shoreline hotel being built and now they are building their second hotel on the site of the open air swimming pool and old reception building.
i have mixed feelings about a second hotel as to me butlins bognor seems to be bursting at the seams without the need for cramming in more visitors.
anyhoo my review,we have stayed half board and self catering over the years and we do prefer self catering as you can eat when you want and not tied to a time slot.
the ocean drive and coral beach restaurants can get so busy at times that you can be waiting ages in a queue to be served, they frequently run out of food and you have to wait while they get more, and some of it is stone cold.
but the entertainment and redcoats make up for that and it cant be faulted, bob the builder is a big hit with the kids as is billy bear who my youngest adores, the shops are bursting with goodies and i could spend a fortune on things for the kids(and usually do),they have upgrade the outdoor play area and the adventure golf.
the usual outdoor fair ground rides are there too and the indoor rides such as the lil aeroplanes and ladybirds and teacup rides for the kids.
splashworld is great lots of room to splash about or swim properly, the wave pool is great and reduces me to a laughing weirdo everytime as its fun.
the accommodation is good have stayed in self catering mostly, standard which is very basic but served it purpose, silver is nice you get a bit more room and more kitchen appliances, now gold i cant really tell the difference from silver you seem to be paying extra for the name rather then the accommodation(ooh im in gold dont cha know),our gold apartment had ants and they were everywhere you couldn't leave anything out,i opened my sons calpol and the ants has swarmed over the bottle as it was slightly sticky ewww.
have stayed in standard for half board and the room was so small to had to practically climb over the bed to get to the bathroom and its just basically a room with beds,a tv,kettle and a bathroom off it.
i do understand from friends that silver plus half board does give you a chair and table in the room instead of having you sprawling on the beds if you need to sit down.
im not dissing butlins i know they are upgrading everything, i love it,my kids love and yes im going for xmas this year woo hoo.
Summary: great love it
