Butlins has Regressed. Do not Go! (Butlins (Minehead))

Disadvantages: Cleanliness, Food quality, dont expect large refunds, Costly extras

My experiences were similar to cipenman - written on 05.08.06 but we didnt stay around to be fobbed off. We left Butlins & our Silver room a few hours after arriving because the room was unclean and straight out of the 70's. We tried upgrading days before and on arrival..no luck, so how could they move us to other accom'?
After 20 years since I last went to Butlins I had high expectations which were missed by a long-shot. I believe Butlins got worse.
The dining experience was a BIG let-down. They say the best time to eat is 1/2 hour at start and end - huh! we arrived 45 minutes before end and they were shutting down half of it and not refreshing the food. The soup and custard had a luke warm 1/2 inch layer of skin and the rest of the food was not acceptable. So we decided to leave (back to Manchester!) - I had visions of an unclean, hair/wee filled swimming pool.
Letters of complaint were replied to but no refund was given. £500 down the drain. We're NEVER going to Butlins again.
A few weeks later (18Sep2006) our parents and a number of other guests were sent home after contracting some tummy bug!!! make of it what you will - Butlins said its not hygiene related.

Summary: Flying to Spain would be alot more enjoyable for, I suspect, a similar price!
