Advantages: cheap

Disadvantages: Poor food, stressful booking in process, cheap and nasty

Myself and my partner went to Butlins June 08. I must say I have been spoilt with many breaks to Centre Parcs as I used to work their and get it relatvely cheap.

This was the first time I had been to butlins, I had read many a review advising of bad and good things.

We arrived on the Friday night and we had to wait for our rooms and queue to book in.

I must say that even on entering the park and on first judgement - I wasn't impressed. Basically the site looks like i's still in 1990's. The paint and decor is very grubby on most of the outbuildings. The site looks and feels very dated and dirty.

Any how, we entered the Pavillion and queued to book for 2 whole hours, it wa sa nightmare, kids screaming, people pushing and shoving, it felt no way like a holiday. A very bad way of checking in, unpreffesional and unrelaxing and I must say very stressfull.

I did notice alot of pigeons flocking inside near burger kings and pooing down on the tables, there was obviously no control over this at all.

Eventully after sorting the booking in process out, we got our our room. It was very confusing as several rooms had same numbers but on different letters, 3 attempts to find our room.

The room itself was pretty bog-standard, it was clean relativley comfy. I had prepared myself for this so nothing surprised me in here.

We opted for a silver room which gave us breakfast and dinner. That evening we went to dinner and queued up with a litle school-like tray in a school-like canteen, like - school-children, and the food was just disgusting.

I normally like any food, but the sight of what they had to offer just didn't interest me what so ever. So I didn't have anything.

The next morning we arose for breakfast early at 8 -thinking it will be a good time - good time no! We queued for 1.5 hours to get in the brekfast rooms only to find that again, the food just wasn't appetising. We ending up getting a mcds breakfast several mornings.

We didn't eat once in that room, it felt to un holiday -like and just horrible.

I really didn't enjoy my time at Butlins, we ended up going out the park to visit local attractions as there's nothing to do for adults.

We left 1 night early too. A poor substandard holiday village which is dire with age. It need s massive makeover ,facelift and revamp of its facilities. With so much offerings out there by ther holiday makers butlins really need to pull there finger out and do something, it's a disgrace, I say send the Hotel Inspector in!!
