Butlins - kids thought it was fab. (Butlins (Minehead))

Advantages: Lots to do for young kids

Disadvantages: Apartments a bit shoddy

Having read some of the other reviews about Butlins Minehead, I just wanted to write about our experience there. We went last year in the Easter holidays, and had a really good time. (It was the quietest week of the holidays, apparently, as they were so long last year) As some have said before, it is definitely one for the kids, and if we had gone as an adult group, I think that we may have been disappointed.

However, we took our then 3 year old twins and 1 year old toddler and found that there was always something for them to do, ranging from the free kids rides to the shows and the soft play area. Seeing Barney and Angelina Ballerina in the "fur" was an absolute highlight. We were really lucky with the weather, too, and this definitely helped us see the holiday in a positive light. As we were quite a walk from the main entertainment tent, I think we would have had a different view of the holiday if it had rained!

On the downside, the apartment really wasn't great. The lock looked like it had been forced at some point before our arrival, and even though we reported it, it wasn't fixed all week. Also, much of the kitchen equipment was missing, although staff did bring some replacements when we contacted them about this. Some of the staff were a little dodgy too (althoug most were great) - I am referring to one of the kids rides operators who slipped into conversation with us details of his pretty sordid night the night before.

So I would say, if you are going to go, I think Butlins is probably best enjoyed in it's quieter periods, but the kids should enjoy it!
