Advantages: Plenty to do all day.

Disadvantages: On site activties are pricey.

I have visited Butlins in Minehead now on several occasions for the 60's themed weekends.
We go in a group of around 60, we all stay in the old style chalets and are half board and pay around £120 for 4 days and 3 nights.

It is a long old drive from the midlands but is worth it. I have only ever been in the winter, as the adult weekends only really run out of season. But even so Minehead is a beautiful place. The Beach is opposite the resort and looks out to Wales on a clear day.

The resort itself is clean, the staff friendly and Helpful and well set out. As all other Butlins it offers the same facilities. Plenty of places to eat on site if you are Self Catering. There a bars, Pubs, a bowling alley and even a cinema.

The entertainment put on over these weekends are amazing, ranging from cover bands to the real deal! The Centre Stage gets very busy but is always worth it.

The drinks are fairly pricey to, but we always drank before we went out, Eating out is expensive so avoid if you can.

Minehead itself does not have much to offer in the way of things to do, well except if you like Castles and Steam trains. But the town is very small with several cheap market style shops. There is a pub that sells the best Baileys Hot chocolate and a cafe at the very top of the town that does a beautiful Carrot and Corriander soup, Yum yum, 3 years since I last ate it and i still think of it with a great fondness even now.

Butlins is perfect for families and for adult weekends its spot on.

Summary: You will need a holiday to recover, but totally worth it.
