There's no place like home - especially after being to Butlins (Butlins (Minehead))

What a holiday from HELL!!!!

After previous (somehow good) visits to Butlins Minehead my family and I decided to go there in August 1998. What a mistake that was... here's my awful talw of... DEADLY BUTLINS SOMERWEST WORLD!!

I went with my friend and his family so we had two seperate rooms. After waiting for them for about 3 hours we finally reached our "luxury" chalet. Luxury... there's a laugh. The bed covers were absoloutely filthy, there was mildew all around the room, the television wasn't working, and the window was broke.

So my parents went to my friends room next-door and that was a similar story except in their chalet there was also ripped wallpaper broken and scribbled-on units, and there was a puddle of sick right in the middle of the room and the cutlery was dirty!!
They decided they'd had enough and went to complain to Butlins. They said:-
"We cannot offer a refund but we shall put you in another room further away"

Turned out it was right up the back of the complex when we had specifically asked for rooms closer up because my father had a problem with his back... but as usual there was nothing they could do about it!!!

The new room was a bit better but I had to sleep in a sofa-bed and my parents in two single beds. The room was smelling and the bed sheets were yet again dirty.
So Butlins sent somebody up to our room and they changed the sheets and sorted to the smell.

So then we thought that nothing else could possibly go wrong..... WE THOUGHT.

I was about 8 at the time so my father had to come into the fair with me and the queues were very big so we were waiting for ages. On entry they didn't inform us we only had 1/2 hour so we payed for a ticket for the special rides and because the queue was so big we didn't get to the ride in time and the next day they wouldn't accept the ticket.

The food there I mus
t admit was quite nice but not up to a very high standard.

Then my parents gave us money to go around into the cafe's etc. while they went to and adults bar... as Butlins guaranteed their community was safe we thought that we would be safe to walk around on our own... When me and my friend lost each other we went to the bar where our parents were and we could clearly see them but we were disallowed to go in so I asked the bouncer if he could go and get my parents but I was ignored... Not very satisfied and neither were my parents.

Ir got to that extent that we wanted to go home early... although we didn't because they didn't deserve to recieve our money when we weren't going to stay the whole time.

When we got home and contacted Butlins to tell them of our misfortunate visit to their park they replied offering us a FREE holiday... I don't think I need to tell you what we said back to them.

NEVER, EVER AGAIN IN MY LIFE WILL I GO TO BUTLINS FOR MANY REASONS.

And neither should you.......
