Advantages: Lots to do, good entertainment

Disadvantages: Cleanliness of apartments, long ques for shows

I stayed at butlins skegness 2 years ago now with my husband and at the time 12 month old baby. The complex itself was very good, clean and lots for the younger ones to do. The accomodation was shocking though, it was pure filth, we stayed in standard accomodation but I at least expected it to be clean but we had to clean it before we slept as it was dusty everywhere. The carpets were extremely badly stained and curtains stunk badly of cigarettes. The redcoats were really friendly and always greeted us whenever we saw one. The shows in the pavillion made for great viewing. There were ltos of food options but the supermarket was seriously over priced. We stayed half board and the food butlins provided was lovely and there was lots of choice for babies and adults alike. The shows in an evening were really good however people began queing up 2 hours before they started to get a seat as it packs out, the que was really long so we went in after everyone was seated and there was not 1 spare seat which was a shame but I refuse to que for 2 hours to watch an evening show! The fairground there is small but at no additional cost which is always good. The swimming pool is great fun for everyone and the changing rooms were large. Overall a great place for a short holiday I would visit again but would never stay in butlins own accomodation again
