Advantages: meeting characters, bobs tea party

Disadvantages: Check in times and closing time for attractions

I have just come back from a week in butlins skegness. We have a 2.5year old daughter and we thouroughly enjoyed our break away. We were worried at first because the break was so cheap we thought it would be rubbish but we couldnt have been more wrong. We booked a silver half board room(£295) - the room was immaculate, tastefully decorated, clean, tidy and very pleasant to be in. There was kettle, tv and towels and toilet roll were provided even though they said it wouldnt be. The food was delicious, lots of choice and eat as much as you like -loads for the daughter to do. We left without making it round the whole complex. Would not take any younger than 2years.People queue unecessarily for the entertainment, theres loads of room once you get in and definitely no need to queue hours ahead. Didnt think pool was very clean and alot of the entertainment closed early such as parks, fair, swimming. Took daughter to see bob at his teaparty, she really enjoyed it and it turned out to be her favourite part however it was not in my opinion worth £30. There are other characters to meet without charge such as pingu and barney however none of the characters talk which bugged my daughter coz she was asking them questions but they dont say anything!! There is only about 6 lanes on bowling alley so that needs booking in advance. Also you will need lots of spending money if you are self catering -we went for lunch at Finnigans chippy 2 adult chips and jumbo and one kids chips and fishfingers cost £16. The red coats are friendly but a bit cheesy but thats what kids like. They tell everyone to check in at the same time instead of staggering the times so everyone is queuing up at 4pm with the luggage and kids and it took about half an hour but once past check in the rest went really smooth. Resort was clean and tidy but some of the toilets dotted around the site needed attention especially the ones in splash. Resort is a five minute drive from fantasy island and the famous outdoor market which is worth visiting. We had a great time and didnt want to leave so will be returning in the future.

Summary: Had a great time overall and will be returning
