We were not disappointed with either description as wherever you pitch the views were amazing and while we were there everyone followed the 10.30 pm silence rule which was great. The facilities were very clean and although the on site shop was small it had a large variety of items including the best bacon we have ever tasted. The food at the on site Hayloft Cafe was very tasty but we found the pub down the road, think it was called Crag Bar, to be small, in need of refurbishment and their menu was totally vegetation which wasn't good quality so we used the Hayloft several times and ... more

As regular campers and visitors to the Lake District this was our first visit to Castlerigg Farm. We had read previous reviews about this site and chose it for their silence rule and location. We were not disappointed with either description as wherever you pitch the views were amazing and while we were there everyone followed the 10.30 pm silence rule which was great. If you have ever been camping in the Lake District you will know how easy it is to find a campsite but harder to find a good one. Castlerigg Farm campsite lies just outside of Keswick off the Keswick to Windermere road. It is well sign posted and easy to get to. It's about a 30 minute walk from the campsite to the centre of Keswick but be warned its uphill all the way back. The staff that I met were all friendly and were happy to answer any question. There is a decent sized toilet/shower block that was always clean. The camping ground is fairly flat which is a bonus in the Lakes.
