      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A good site for visiting the area or an overnight stop on the way elsewhere

We have stayed at this site a number of times for overnight stops on our way North or South past Birmingham because it's not too far out of the way if you are travelling M1, M5 or M6 (which may sound gibberish given it is actually just off the M42, but there you go......!) We have also used it for weekend stays meeting up with friends. I don't think I would choose to say here for a holiday, but that is more about personal choice than any criticism of the site.

Chapel Lane is a Caravan Club site and facilities are of the standard one would expect from a club site - warm, well maintained and supplied with necessaries like soap and loo roll. Pitches are mainly hard standing although there are some grass pitches. One area of the site does feel rather like pitching on a car park, but if you drive round a bit there are plenty of other smaller areas divided off with bushes etc that feel a lot better. The site is open all year. Recycling facilities on site and plenty of service points with fresh water, waste water disposal and chemical toilet disposal. Electric hookups on most if not all pitches. Late night arrivals area. Laundry and dishwashing facilites. There are also storage facilities on site.

The site is conveniently located for visiting Birmingham (bus stop outside site for buses into the city, but not sure what the frequency is as we haven't used the.) Would also be suitable for use when visiting the NEC, which is not too long a drive away. Within walking distance there is farm shop which has things like bread and milk as well as loads of other stuff as well - we wound up buying half a lamb here once and travelling home with the van fridge stuffed full, so be warned! There is also a cafe/restaurant associated with the farm shop which did fantastic breakfasts - check this as we last used it several years ago. Booking was advisable as it was very popular.

Chapel Lane is reasonably priced for a site within reach of a major city - pitch plus 2 adults ranges from £15.30 to £24.10 for pitch & 2 adults. In 2012 there are special offers - there's a midweek pitch discount which could save you £3-4 and kids up to 17 stay for 1p a night during the summer holidays.
