Advantages: Great deal on for film buffs
Disadvantages: Price of food, toilets a disgrace
Yesterday I went to Cineworld in Nottingham and saw a few things that I thought needed commenting on, so I decided a review was in order!
Cineworld is a rather large chain of cinemas that seem to have bought out warner village and some other slightly smaller chains.
The Nottingham cinema has 14 screens based on two floors, the lower floor (which is actually the second floor of the Corner House) has the ticket desk and main food outlet (at peak times there is a food outlet on the upper floor). When we arrived at 6.30pm on a Thursday evening the ticket desk was not overly busy but there were enough staff to keep it moving quickly, unlike some other cinemas I have also reviewed where you buy your food and tickets at the same time, which is not an idea that I like.
The screens vary in size, the newest releases are shown on the larger of the screens, with the ones coming to the end of their run put on screens 1 and 2 which are smaller, but this does not make the viewing experience any different in my opinion.
The selection of food is generally the same as any other cinema with huge mark ups on everything, there was no salted popcorn available which was a little disappointing but I must admit that I snuck in my own low fat snack a jack popcorn anyway!
The toilets are an absolute disgrace and to be honest every time I have visited I have noticed how run down they appear. 2 of the stalls were unavailable for use, many have no locks on the doors and some even had no toilet seats. There seemed to be very little paper in most of the stalls, and seeing as it wasn't that busy whilst we were there I would have thought they could stock up and clean up. All in all the toilets are best avoided if possible.
The one saving grace is a great scheme that they are running for people who visit on a regular basis, for £11.99 a month you can go to see unlimited films, there are exclusions to this but overall it seems like a great deal. www.cineworld.co.uk has a current price list and any other information you may need.
Only 3 out of 5 stars because of the awful ladies toilets and the greed of the company in food pricing!
Summary: If they made the food cheaper, and cleaned the toilets more often I would go more often too!
