A great day out for all the family

If your ever near to Danson Park, you just have to go in, it's lovely. Park is a bit misleading though, it's huge and you could easily get lost in there.

Danson Park is located on the border between Welling and Bexleyheath and easily accessable from the A2 and M25. Home to events such as the danson Festival, open air concerts, South east counties motor show and circuses, the park is very popular and a keen favourate for locals and tourists alike.

Set in 78 hectares of land you will find many facilities in the park. there are sporty activities such as football, tennis, golf, bowling and cycle routes. You will also find a well equipted childrern's play area pub/restaurant and kiosk.

There is also a large lake where visitors can fish, as well as taking part in boating and water sports. The lake is also used by rowing and canoe clubs. Next to the lake is the Boathouse function and conference centre where can hire a function room a they also have regular events.

I live about 10 minutes away from Danson Park and go there a lot. In the summer the park is lovely and there is lot's of greenery and flowers. There are busy parts near to the kiosk and children's play area. Or after a short walk, you can usually find a more secluded and quiet area.

In the winter they have regular fun fairs, circuses and a November firework display and visitors are always well catered for.

The pub and restaurant is very grand looking inside and lovely and welcoming inside. It's called the Danson Stables and is very well located near the main entrance of the park. They are open all day until 10pm weekdays and 9.30pm on Sundays and offer both a lunch menu and a main menu. The prices are slightly on the high side for pub food, although it is a bit nicer than a pub, and more like a restaurant. You can pcik up a main course for around the £10 mark but prices do start at £6.95, which is reasonable, considering the location. I haven't eaten in there for a quite a while but when I did last eat there the food was very good and so was the service.

Danson Park make a great day out for families, couples and even akward teenagers. It's definately worth a visit, weather you take a picknic or enjoy the facilities, you'll have a great day out.
