Daysoutuk.com is a very easy site to use. There’s a good chance that by taking a look you will not only find some great ideas for places to visit, but some money off coupons too.


Homepage

The homepage is laid out with links and the search facility across the top of the page and underneath those you will find 3 articles....

“Welcome to Days Out UK” ~ This gives you a brief rundown of the site content, (in excess of 10,000 special events, 7,000 attractions, and 500 discount coupons) and explains the search options for using the site.

“News and Events” ~ Currently it’s displaying advice recommending that you contact visitor attractions before you set out, due to the possibility of temporary closure because of Foot & Mouth Disease. Also, there are several August only events listed

“Strategic Alliance Program” ~ Ideas, suggestions, and a contact link for information regarding associating yourself (company/website) with Days Out UK.


Search Facility

You can perform your search in 3 ways....

“Attractions” ~ This option enables you to select an area for which you want to search within. There are 54 choices which include individual counties, UK Wide, Ireland, and Europe. You then select a type of attraction from the 9 choices given such as family fun, or animals/nature. Finally, pick a class (this is related to the attraction you have picked. For example, if you choose an animal/nature attraction, you then have further options such as wildlife and safari parks or nature and conservation areas).

“Events” ~ If you choose to search by event, you are (again) first asked for an ar
ea to search within. You then give a date to indicate which day of the month you are enquiring about, and of course the month itself.

“Key Words” ~ Searching by key word allows a slightly more personalized search. You select from 2 choices, either event or attraction. Then you select an area for your search, and the final step is to enter your key word/s.

Once you have made your selections for the search, click the red “GO” button on the right hand side and anything meeting your chosen criteria will be listed. If money off discounts are available, the word “Coupon” is displayed. To get further information on any of the listed places/events, simply click on it’s name.

“User Guide” ~ A brief, but helpful, explanation of how to use the search facility to find what you want.

“Order A Guide” ~ You can buy a Days Out UK guide book, with over 500 pages of attractions, events and discount coupons for the price of £9.99 (plus p&p).

“Discount Coupons” ~ You can use this section if you are interested solely in attractions with discounts available. You are shown a map, and you simply click your chosen area. You are then presented with all the attractions in that area for which there is a coupon available. Click the individual names for further info, and you have an option to print off a coupon if you wish.

The coupons vary in value. Some allow free entry for children when accompanied by a full paying adult. Others offer reduced rate entrance fees or discounts on party bookings.

“Trade Section” ~ This facility enables attraction owners or event organizers to register with Days Out UK and be included in the lis
tings.

“Contact Us” ~ Internal email, for want of a better description (the same system that Ciao use for their contact us facility). Select from a drop down menu the reason for your contact, supply your name, email address, type your message into the box and click “send message“.


This is a really useful site. It’s presentation is simple but pleasant, and navigation is easy. The speed of page downloads is reasonably fast, and in all the searches I did, it was barely a minute from starting to having the info I wanted in front of me. Well worth a look!
