Faichemard Farm Camping Site (Invergarry)
Advantages: This is a great place to go to re-charge your batteries
Disadvantages: You will not want to leave
Touring and Caravan Site.
If you enjoy camping then this a must visit site, and one i am sure you will want to make a regular place to visit yearly Faichemard is set overlooking Glengarry mountains and is situated off the A87 between Kyle of Lochalsh and the quaint village of Invergarry.
It is a site that is exclusively for adults so you have no worries of being woken by screaming children at silly o'clock in the morning with screams of who had the ball and demands of "where are we going today" so here you can actually kick back ,relax and take in the views and the splendid things on offer.
The camp site has a number of pitches 12 of which are hard standing and have electrical hook-ups, There are two toilet blocks that serve the site with showers both with hot and cold running water, with a laundry are that houses a washing machine and tumble dryer, which is handy even if you take just a tent and not a caravan.
Places to visit nearby is one of my all time favourites which is Fort Augustus which a lot will know houses the grand Loch ness as it lies right at its southern tip, Fort Augustus is around 6 and a half miles from the camp sites and is a splendid place to visit, though getting to have a meal in one of the restaurants or pubs can be a bit of a waiting game as this can be busy at times, so taking a packed lunch is advisable when leaving the camp site and more so cheaper!
Fort William lies around 22 miles away from the camp site and has a great supermarket so if you want to stock up then this is the place to do it, but if you are just wanting to go and climb Ben Nevis then good luck... but Fort William i found to be a handy place just to break up the monotony of "Green" ,Fort William has many shops a swimming pool a museum and many places to sit and eat, with no waiting time,
However if venturing outside of the camp site is not for you and you just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city then staying put is a pleasure in itself you wont get bored and with only a short walk in to the village of Invergarry if you fancy a break away from a novel or even to top up on milk or post a post card then there is everything in Invergarry too , a general store, post office pub and petrol station.
Overall a very peaceful place to visit not too out of the way of civilisation but plenty around if needed, a nice place just to wallow away a month behind a book after a few stressful moths at work lots of hills and picture opportunities all within easy walking distance and some great wildlife to take in too, a thoroughly peaceful place that i would like to call a retreat or haven.
