i was also employed at this park last year and it was an utter joke ,the two lazy coat girls were more interested in getting drunk and flirting with other members of staff than doing any entertaining, the roof of the small entertainment venue was so low in the hot weather it was stifling in there, the staff were being sacked left right and centre, the manager was sacked, the bars manager went, office staff,we were told days before to organise entertainment we knew nothing about there was absolutely no support from other members of staff or management, the customers came in for the bingo and then left to go to a cheaper pub down the road, the food (if you could call i that)was cold and continually sent back to the bar, all that they were interested in was how much you could get out of the customers selling cheap plastic tat,the cabarets where quite good that they sent in at the weekend but nobody stayed to watch them , apart from caravan sales and their friends.overall a nasty experience.
I was an employee at this park resorts up until this morning. I was a lifeguard there for over a year and a half just as a summer job till I go off to university. Boy did this park have problems, from the outside things may look as though they are going well but on the inside - health and safety is breached in almost every possible way. The managerial staff there do not have a single ounce of intelligence and it is obvious why they are stuck in such dead end jobs. Numerous staff there were sacked and re-employed in other departments, house keeping is a prime example of the poor quality there. I spoke regularly to many of the owners and they told me and showed me the poor standards at which the house keeping perform their jobs! Many owners who sub let refuse to let house keeping do the cleaning for them. As for the entertainment - non existent, I worked alongside some of them and they were supposed to run programmes in the swimming pool - this really was not the case. They would come in and sit on the side for five minutes and when asked "are you going to be running your programme" their response was "I am here just to show my face so people know we are around" I asked them numerous times what they planned to do and their usual response was "nothing" it was unbelievable, the complex was run by a fool who created problems at another park and was just moved to heacham to solve the issue... it clearly did not work. The staff are just reshuffled and management do not understand what the people below them should be doing which then results in jobs not being done properly - last season I had an amazing time working for the sports and leisure manager who is now at california cliffs - one of the best most hard working men I have ever met. Then this season we had a new manager as a 17 year old to then be treated as a complete dunce was an amazement to me - I had hours cut my wages were not paid on time my manager did not do any work, he actually went into the complex to watch the cricket on television whilst he was getting paid to work. This meant two lads were left in charge of a swimming pool on their own without breaks or anything jeapordising everyones health and safety. It is unbelievable what goes on within one park - the park is poorly kept as well, in a poor attempt to make more money caravans are put closer to eachother reducing plot sizes and roads are kept poorly and as for the image of the park, it reminds me very much of walking round chernobyl, missing caravans weeds everywhere not a decent bit of ground in sight, my verdict as an employee the swimming pool is well kept when the manager is not around but the rest of the park is dismal, really needs sorting I am glad I left found myself a new job instantly at a much nicer, more attractive better paying caravan site in Hunstanton closer to my house in Hunstanton till I go to university, if you go to Heacham don't say I didn't warn you!
We have a static caravan at Heacham Beach brought new at the end of last year that we rent out through the resort for some of the year and use it ourselves the rest, but we are seriously thinking of not continuing next year. Initially when we turned up to use our van for our allocated slot it hadn't been cleaned, the beds still had the bedding on from previous occupants, the second time we arrived to find the windows had all been left open and as we were two days later than we had planned arriving it meant they had been open for a total of three days! Not just the little top windows but the large ones, so good for security, good job it hadn't rained. We had to ask the 'security' guy at the club door to get somebody for us to talk to as there were no details of who to contact out of hours. The latest time we went to use our van we had to wipe the cupboard doors clean as a small personhad left jammy handprints all over the doors and handles, we also had to empty the bin in the bathroom and wash the kitchen bin before we could use them. This was then followed by an apparent change in the contract concerning payments for gas that we were not informed about only to be told when we needed to replace the gas cylinders. The final straw was when arriving at the club at 7.15 to order food we were told there would be a fifteen minute delay in taking orders so the kitchen could catch up. We ordered two adult and one childs meal at 7.30 and were told that they would be ready in ten minutes. At 8.30 we were told that one of the meals wasn't available and to choose another option. The meals finally arrived at 9.30 totally inedible! If there had been anywhere close that we could have got food from we would have gone but planned to use the club for the first nights meals and shop locally the next day. The chips were so anemic they looked as though they had been microwaved and the two small spoonfuls of chilli were barely hot. My grandsons meal consisted of four small smiley faces, 4 tiny chicken nuggets and a few peas sat in a plate of oil. When we complained we were told that there had been a lot of orders but it was a Saturday, changeover day at a lot of sites so surely a day to make sure you have sufficent staff. We were not the only ones to complain, while we were waiting for our 'food' there were at least five refunds given because the food was taking to long and somebodys pizza looked as though the cheese was just about melted on the top of a limp white base. This is the third time we have had awful food from the club so shan't be trying it again.
We were booked to stay 1 week at the Heacham beach holiday park but cut our stay dhort after 3 nights. We paid £40 for a family pass thinking we would make full use of it. The 2nd day of our stay we went to the swimming pool. The pool temperature was fine but they had 1 set of double doors open and it was extremely cold. I went to complain but the life guards laughed and decided to open the opposite double doors so the wind was blowing right through the pool area. I complained again only to be told to leave if I didn't like it. I then complained to the manager of the pool who then banned me for complaining! Apparently the reason they need the doors open is because the so called life guards get too hot and need them open but the poor customers who are in the pool have to freeze because of this!
The next day we went to the sparkey's kids club that was meant to start at 10.30am, We arrived at 10.50 only to find it was closed! We went to the reception who tried to get hold of someone from the entertainment section but there was no answer! I was then told that the kids club only runs for half an hour a day! It was obvious that the kids club had not been open at all!
We tried to get a refund on the tickets because the pool was so cold and the kids club was not running but were told that because we had used the pool once then we could not have a refund!
The last straw was the state of the kitchen where food was prepared! The floor was so dirty it was black and sticky! The food that we paid £43 for was inedible and cold.
I would not recommend this park for anyone who has children as the facilities are not available when they should be, the life guards sit chatting instead of supervising the pool and the doors being open means that it is far too cold to swim! The attitude of the staff is unfriendly and unhelpful and the kitchen was filthy!
The caravan we stayed in was lovely but this was a privately booked caravan and not maintained by park resorts.
We stayed at the Park Resorts Heacham Beach in May 2009. Our caravan had three bedrooms and had extras such as a microwave and a DVD player both of which came in handy! The caravans appear to be closer together than other caravan parks we have stayed at but we had enough room outside to park our car and for a picnic table. The camp shop is small and pricey but ok for emergencies. There is a Tesco and Sainsburys 5 miles away in Hunstanton which we used to stock up. The pool on the site is small and has a small slide but my children aged 10 and 12 were happy to use it.
Heacham South Beach is a three minute walk from the park and it is huge! It is on the wash so the water is very shallow and the tide goes a long way out. The beach is a bit pebbly but this didn't put my kids off, there is the option of nicer sand by the dunes. Remember your wind break though!
I went on a Park Resorts holiday last week, and returned yesterday. I was so glad to be home!! We had a 6 berth cavan home which had cost £178.00 for 1 week at the beginning of May at Heacham Beach in Norfolk (There was no exact match and this was the only Park Resorts available to review). When me and my daughter arrived at the resort, it looked nice, everything looked tidy, and there were loads of people around. We checked in, and the woman was friendly and showed us where our caravan was. We walked in (without the woman) and i was so disgusted with the state of the place! The carpet was filthy, my feet (in trainers) stuck to the kitchen floor, and the bathroom had pubic hairs in the shower cubicle!! I went straight back to the reception to complain, only to find that it had closed for the day!! I had to clean the caravan myself. I was so grossed out. I went through half a pack of cleaning wipes on the kitchen floor before they started coming away grey rather than black. I washed the glasses because there was a lipstick mark on one of them, then decided to wash the rest of the crockery and cutlery because if 1 glass was dirty, then the rest must have been. The toilet stank, and i had to clean it so that we could use it!
First thing the next morning we went to the reception to complain, and i was given a form to fill in with my comments. Then someone came to clean the rest of the caravan - i had refused to clean out the kitchen bin and a few other bits. He was there for over an hour!! Even the cleaner was disgusted with the state of the place. The only apology i got was from the cleaner, who said it must have been an "oversight." I was appauled. No other apology from anyone. I filled in my complaint sheet, which was apparently sent off to their head office a week ago now, and still no one has contacted me to apologise.
This supposed 6 berth caravan (which i had ordered because i like space) had 2 bedrooms - a double and a twin. The twin beds were a lot thinner than a standard single bed, and my 3 year old even fell out of her bed because it was so slim! How on earth they expected 6 people to fit in here, i really don't know.
I am really disappointed with Park Resorts, and i will not be using them again. Next time id rather camp in a tent in a cow field. It might be cleaner!
The facilities were alright on the resort. There was an indoor swimming pool. Their changing rooms consisted of a male open plan room and a female open plan room. There was no privicy what so ever. Women had their sons - like 9 and 10 year old boys - wandering through with no concern for anyone else at all. There were no lockers to store your belongings in whilst you were swimming, so anything could easily be stolen.
There was an expensive on site store which sold necessities. When i say expensive, i mean a standard bottle of red wine that you would pay £2.99 for in Tesco was on their shelves at £4.99! Bread was around £1.30a loaf, and 2 pints of milk was over £1. It was a total rip off with no concern for security or privicy. I wouldn't recommend anyone visiting this resort.
On the Park, the pool with mini fun slide will provide hours of fun for the children whilst the toddlers can splash in the paddling pool. Great entertainment can be enjoyed at Bank Holidays and peak weeks with a quieter programme available at other times of the year.
